With all the fanrage and disappointment that TF: Prime toys has generated, I thought it was high time somebody made a happy thread, one which celebrates a subject which has universally united all of Transfandom under an all encompassing umbrella of love, financial security and lets face it, big ass explosions.

Gentlemen (and possible ladies) I give you... the Michael Bay Appreciation thread.

There is only one rule to this thread, show your appreciation for the man who gave us Bayformers. You can do this by posting pictures of the awesome toys from the Michael Bay films, or by commenting on the toys, or Michael himself.

I'll start shall I? This is my awesome collection of the '07 Autobot lineup. I apologize for the quality of the pictures, I had to mess around with the scale of everything in order to get them all to fit into the shot.

Left to right, DOTM Leader Bumblebee. (Had to be customised a lot to make him look like the old Camero), HFTD Human Alliance Jazz, DOTM Jetwing Optimus Prime, DOTM Leader Ironhide and '07 Premium Ratchet.

So. Show your appreciation of the man who catapulted our hobby (as well as numerous cars) into the stratosphere and into general public consciousness.

Go on. You know you want to.

I actually do love the movies and the toy lines we got from them. I can see why people hate him and the figures, but I love them. I really hope this thread keeps positive.

    best.thread.ever.

The only way I'd love Michael Bay more was if he'd dedicated his HoF award to Erector. He was a real champion.

I like the Movie lines. Not because they 'funded Classics' or 'raised awareness and numbers' but because I actually like the toys. Ironically, RotF is my favourite toy line, although I did not like the movie at all, while DotM is my favourite film and least favourite toy line.

Without the Movie lines, we would not have got Leader Ironhide or Sentinel Prime or Starscream, Voyager Bludgeon or Skyhammer or Mindwipe or Seaspray or Dotm Megatron, Deluxe Fracas or Sidearm Sideswipe. And, we would never have had a single Human Alliance figure, as a continuation of Alternators.

The Movie line has given us some great figures over the years.

Never seen the movies, but got a good amount of figures from the movies. Mainly I found stuff that I liked about the different figures.

Movie figures (Rotf Leader Prime especially) got me into collecting Tfs after 20 years. I like franchise as a whole and everything and i was a g1 child but to be honest, i wouldn't buy any of those animated or universe figures, or even chugs out of nothing after all those years (they rarely show up in retailers here anyway).

One day by chance i saw that rotf leader in an online store (was looking for something else) and i immediately fell in love with the engineering, size and sheer complexity of the figure, the figure i love from my childhood.

Though Bay directed incredibly shallow movies for the franchise, i guess he deserves some credit for defining giant alien robots we all know in a new and somewhat exciting (to me anyway) perspective.

I have to say that leader class and HA do look good on my display. ROTF leader class is also one best Primes out there.

I appreciate what Michael Bay did for the brand as a whole. Transformers has never been bigger.

I still think the actual designers ( such as Procter ) and ILM are more responsible for the actual movie TF designs and inherently, the movie toys... but oh well.. I'll give Michael Bay some credit too.

That said, it was ROTF voyager Starscream which brought me back to collecting.

Because of the mass market approach, the designs got a lot of engineering iterations throughout the trilogy ; so you can get that design at various price points in various sizes.

Michael Bay has a really distinctive style, and while I don't always agree with some of his sensibilities, his films are always beautifully shot and I've enjoyed almost all of the ones I've seen.

As for the toys his films have inspired, I've spent a lot of money of them and got a lot of enjoyment out of them, and their legacy is of benefit to all collectors of modern Transformers. Just look at the engineering of Transformers Pre-2007, and you'll see what I mean!
