    Bay Loverz keep out.

If you saw Age of Extinction, and absolutely hated it, this is the place to vent.

Share what you detested about the film with like minded individuals. What were your least favourite parts, your most cringeworthy moments, or worst pieces of cinematic abuse? What really made you go 'Oh for f**ks sakes'

    Obviously, spoilers abound.

    I didn't HATE it.
maybe because this board and reviews prepared me for it.
i certainly hated some scenes and thought the movie could have been a lot shorter.

would love to chop off the car chase and the aerial fight as both of those were worthless to the story.

car chase should have been only with optimus prime as thats who everyone was looking for, shane and the rally car, there was no value in capturing them.

aerial fight, again same problem, why were they being chased? shooting them down would not have helped Lockdown's cause at all. all he wanted was Optimus.

Fans want action so every scene works for someone and not everyone

    Ugh.

I gotta say first, I'm speaking as a fan of the original trilogy. I enjoyed the first three movies and find them very entertaining, despite their technical faults.

That's why I expected to like AOE, to have a nice cinematic experience, without thinking and nitpicking too much. I guess I was wrong, however.. I watched the movie a day ago and hated it when I came out. I was surprised that I didn't like it, but I just couldn't help but dislike the awful pacing and the picking and dropping of completely different plot lines.

I disliked how the Autobots had become this mess of a team, with Bee turned into an asshole and a Bot (Crosshairs), who doesn't really care about their cause, but only wants to be the leader. Even when Optimus came, he didn't seem to be able to lead them.

But the reason I hated this movie so much (but liked it at the same time)? It had amazing potential. All plot ideas that were used in this could have made an awesome sci-fi movie that was actually respected by critics. Dinobots? Cool. A bounty hunter, sent by the makers of the transformers, hunting down Optimus? Even better. Men creating their own transformers by researching dead ones? Awesome. But all those different plot lines started and ended at random times, had almost no connection between each other and made for a pretty confusing movie experience at moments.

That said, I did enjoy some parts a lot. The first act was pretty interesting, the Nightship sequence was very good too (let's forget about the rope scene, shall we). The final scene, where they all fight Lockdown was awesome. The ending was a great setup for a sequel, which let's hope will be better made.

With all that said, however, the film has started to grow on me a little, and I think I like it a little better now. I will see it again and I hope that I will understand then why the fandom likes it so much.

    Yay, an outburst thread :3

    I didn't hate AOE, but it did have a lot of aspects that I felt were off. I still thought it was probably one of the best Transformers live-action films, however its length and other factors detracted from this. Don't need a response to any of these, just an outburst;

    - Opening action scene with creators does nothing to explain why they only Terraformed part of Earth with the Seeds
    - 'The Seeds' in the opening look like the teleporters in DOTM
    - Unnecessary scene with KSI discovering the effects of the opening credits in the Artic
    - Random Transformers metal is called 'Transformium'
    - Transformers cards...
    - The film spends about 30-40 introducing us to the humans before Optimus Transforms, could have easily had the opening scene then open to Cade arriving at the Yaeger farm
    - Shane was an asshole, a coward and not boyfriend material in anyway yet Tessa views him in a positive light and even Cade finally accepts him, despite him doing fuck-all throughout the entire film
    - Unnecessary realtor scene
    - Never explained how Lockdown and Attinger met to form this alliance
    - Chase scene felt too long and got boring, why didn't they use the guns sooner
    - Jump scene during the car chase felt 'too planned', admitting they've done it before doesn't help either
    - Lucas dies and after 2 scenes he is never brought up again
    - Cade uses a drone to steal a guy's credit card and the guy doesn't react despite looking at the drone
    - Attinger somehow has the power to get the police, military and ATM's on his side without the president knowing.
    - Autobots have randomly been waiting in a canyon for four years
    - Crosshairs is an asshole who shouldn't be with the Autobots
    - Optimus gets enraged over seeing Ratchet despite not caring about Jazz or Ironhide in prior films
    - So the president has no idea what is happening with KSI and hunting down Transformers, what about the whole 'keep earth human' campaign and the propaganda posters? Surely he must have seen the faces of Bumblebee and Optimus
    - Nobody ever brings up the fact that the Autobots saved the planet three times now
    - Cade only knows about the events of Chicago and not the events of the first two movies
    - Attinger is referred to as working for 25 years as a founder of KSI however later its stated he's been working against Transformers since he founded KSI. So he's been doing this for 25 years and The Autobots only notice now?
    - This is the fourth body that Megatron has had and the second time he has been resurrected in the series
    - Galvatron could have looked like Optimus and we could have gotten Nemesis Prime, instead they brought back Megatron again
    - Why would Megatron bother making his face look obviously evil, surely that ruins the whole 'hiding until taken to Hong Kong' thing
    - Megatron somehow survived DOTM, learned about The Seed and the Autobots automatically guessed his plan solely from Wheelie who may have been mind-linked with Megatron... what :L
    - Megatron immediately calls himself Galvatron by choice despite the scene supposedly their to highlight Megatron taking over the drone
    - If all the KSI drones have the ability to split into cubes when attacked, why do they all die so easily when they can avoid the attacks easily
    - If Lockdown wants to capture Optimus alive, why does he shoot him in the chest near his spark?
    - Why doesn't Lockdown's ship have a way of telling that part of it has left, surely its something you would notice being that size
    - Magical Transformers sword can turn into a gun that is able to be held and fired by humans
    - Wheelie disappears immediately after giving the humans this news
    - Hound says he is out of ammo and then proceeds to fight over another few waves of enemy with ammo including his 'bullet cigar'
    - Unnecessary milk drinking scene
    - Unnecessary bud light scene
    - Unnecessary romance plotline with Tucci and Li Bingbing
    - Random boggle eyed creatures on Lockdown's spaceship
    - Random 'tongue alien' scene
    - Hound murdering random aliens on the spaceship, remember these are innocent alien prisoners
    - Gun-Sword's are used to control the ship and reveal the weapon storage
    - Hound's last stand goes on for way too long and its boring as their is no tension for whether he will live or die
    - Dinobots alt-modes are never explained
    - Dinobots not talking
    - Dinobots not fighting anyone other than Optimus (In Robot Mode)
    - Dinobots being essentially useless
    - Unnecessary magnet scene
    - Battle Cry
    - Control
    - Terrible/Unmemorable score
    - Tessa and Shane are too involved in the final battle with Lockdown
    - Attinger scene mirrors Dylan
    - Optimus no longer gives a fuck about humans, despite obviously giving a fuck about humans in the KSI scene
    - If Lockdown only wants Optimus, why does he go after Cade after impaling Optimus
    - Optimus doesn't try pulling the sword out his chest
    - Optimus says that the person in charge will die... so he would have tracked down and murdered Attinger anyway
    - Optimus NEVER asks why the creators want him back or who they are
    - Optimus randomly gains the ability to fly
    - Deus Ex Grenade...
    - Lockdown's grenade does not look like the 'grenade' in the final battle, it looks like the 'seeds' used in the opening
    - Tucci is forgiven for creating Galvatron
    - Nobody cares that Galvatron/Megatron is still on Earth
    - Optimus abandons his team who he promised would be taken off Earth
    - Big fucking spaceship over Hong Kong at the end of the movie
    - Dinobots left to frolic through flowers...
    - Optimus's final lines don't make sense, saying that people don't need to know where they came from or why, yet going to find out anyway

I just felt like the constant cuts to other scenes, the overblown stunt sequences (I mean really, the freaking cable scene and the "picking up and dropping stuff" scenes were completely unnecessary and not even thrilling), the fact that all the robot dialogue seemed rushed and glossed over when that was clearly the meat of the actual interesting story, and the robots being generally unlikable was what did it for me.

Drift felt like the only Autobot with a sense of honor. Crosshairs was a jerk, Hound was annoying, Bee was just there, and Optimus wasn't the leader I was looking for.

As much as we as a fan base like to nark on Bay, you have to admit, his first three Transformers films don't get much credit. I mean, they're dumb as all hell, with the first being the smartest, with DOTM being not too far behind, and ROTF being the worst. Not disparaging the mentally disabled here, just saying.

I walked into Age of Extinction with comparatively high hopes. I mean, I expected the film to be stupid in some sense, but I also expected, based on the opinions of most of my friends, to be at least somewhat entertained by the film for all it's worth. The first part of the film, with Cade, Tessa, Optimus, and the other Autobots fighting Galvatron and Stinger after raiding KSI, along with Lockdown capturing Optimus, and the Knightship, with the Autobots managing to escape by
using part of the ship as their own,
Yeah, I'll admit, was fascinating to see and overall a thrill to watch. HOWEVER, everything behind that became... ugh, I can't believe I'm saying that about the part of the film with drones running around blowing shit up and robot dinosaurs of all things...

BORING. That's right, the giant climax with robot dinosaurs ended up being unentertaining.

Michael Bay, you have a reputation for being the guy who makes things entertaining despite the lack of a good plot. Your job was to make entertaining shit that wows the masses. And for many, you've done your job. BUT FOR ME, YOU HAVE MADE THE MOST UNENTERTAINING PIECE OF CRAP THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN AN ACTION FILM. YOU HAD ONE JOB, AND FOR ME, YOU DID NOT ACCOMPLISH THAT. I AM GENUINELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS FILM, and in YOU.

You know what? You at Paramount pride yourself with this series. This last piece of action shlock that remains in the theaters, competing with hundreds of other films that have intelligence, and somehow winning every time. But this time, your win streak, and by extent, the age of schlock films, is over. You want to know why? Because I'm not going to see TF5. I'm done, I quit.

Huh? That scene was visually amazing, viewing it at an IMAX screen at least (the sound was remarkable too). Besides, it showed off the true power of Lockdown's ship.

This movie sucked, anybody else thought Optimus yelling "I'll kill you" became annoying after the first few times. Looks like you guys have most of this covered but I felt Completely cheated at the end of this. Bad movie.

Okay, after rethinking my previous post a bit, I realize that the pacing was WAY too fast, making attachment and understanding nigh-impossible.

IMO The inclusion of the 2 headed Shockwave drone was like re-opening a wound to pour some more salt in it

I didn't like it. I hope TF5 models closely to the first one out of the four. But tbh, I missed the 'real' Decepticons being in AOE. It was so boring without them. Here's hoping that they return in the next one, especially essences of Starscream and Soundwave. And don't get me started on what they did to Shockwave in this movie. -_- Overall, TF4 was too long and the plot was all over the place. I had high expectations going into it, because of the new cast and direction, but I was EXTREMELY disappointed. Mr. Bay and his writer needs to hand it off to new people. Bottom Line.

    :p

I get it was visually amazing and sound - but it felt slow and dull in the movie and took up about 10-15 minutes of the final battle. I just didn't particularly care for the scene as it wasn't effective in defeating any of the Transformers.

The true power of Lockdown's ship... picking up and dropping things xD

I agree with most of the criticisms here. Despite having too much of the comedy relief guy, I thought the film was actually really good up until Lockdown captures Prime. After that, the whole movie pretty much abandons any kind of plot and turns into a bad action movie. Bay's usually good at coming up with some cool action but it all seemed like a repeat of the first 3 movies, but worse. That said, I did not hate the movie but I hated the story/writing. Where they go for Transformers 5 I don't know but they need a new screenwriting team with fresh ideas.
