    To put it nicely,

Yes, yes you are missing something.

To watch the Office is to watch character comedy. If you don't like that kind of comedy then it's not for you.

Also, it helps if you have ever worked in an office.

It depends on which season you're watching. And Smkspy is right, it's only for people who enjoy character comedy.

The first season is rather slow. Though once the series gets rolling it get very funny.

Jim's pranks on Dwight gets funnier and funnier.

Michael Scott's self-depreciation is like a train wreck.

    Different strokes, I guess.

this show is my favorite show ever

and i was kinda like you when i first saw a couple episodes

like i watched a couple random eps on TV and i was like "is that it? when does this get funny????"

after some time i decided to give it another chance via Netflix. Watched it from the beginning all the way through to the current episodes and i cant stop watching it. this show is hilarious and i love every bit of it. I recently went and started re-watching it from the beginning since the new eps were on break or whatever and i'm in season 4 so far

this show is the best <3

but yes. it is definitely about character. get to know the characters and you'll wonder how you ever lived without them lol

it might be hard at first [thats what she said!] but once you get to know the characters and stuff it really is hilarious.

After watching (and really enjoying) the original, it was difficult for me to watch the U.S. version. I'm glad Steve Carrell is getting recognition for his brilliance, though.

The Office is one of the best shows to come along in a long time. Certainly much better than the overrated 30 Rock.

Watch the British series. It's much better. I can't stand the American version.

I've watched both, and I love both for different reasons.
It does help if you've worked in that kind of enviorment before, and it does help to watch it from the beginning, because it really is a character-driven show

I've never worked in a office. I'm still in school.

Just out of curiosity, which series did you watch? The series with Ricky Gervais, or Steve Carrell? The American and British series have very different styles of humor. If you don't like one, you'll probably like the other.

You really don't even have to had worked in an office.

Everyone has had that boss that thinks way too much of himself and his position.

Everyone has had that annoying co-worker that they love to mess with and overreacts to pranks played on them.

Everyone has had a co-worker they've crushed on.

Everyone has had a co-worker that likes to drink a little too much.

Both shows are exactly this only applied to an office setting where everyone has been working together for a really long time.

Try 30 Rock. Funnier if you prefer conventional humor.
