Last night I broke out my Dreamcast to play two beloved old fighters of mine: Plasma Sword and Rival Schools: Project Justice.

God, I wish these two would get current gen sequels. It's a shame that Rival Schools was only a minor hit in the U.S. and the Star Gladiator series was scarcely noticed. In fact, I don't think Star Gladiator was very big in Japan, either.

Both games had a lot of personality, though. Great characters and soundtracks. I scored the Star Gladiator 2 (Plasma Sword) soundtrack off of cdjapan many years ago and it's one of my most prized game soundtracks.

Anyway, use this thread to discuss your favorite old fighters, and wish for sequels.

Well, about the only fighting game I really got hooked into, and when I meant hooked is by knowing all the moves and attacks for each character was a fighting game for the PC called One Must Fall: 2097. It was created by Epicmega Games waaaay before they got into Gears of War and Unreal Tournament.

It was a giant robot fighting game played very similar to Street Fighter. What I thought was uber cool about it was that you choose the pilot for your robot, then robot. The pilot determined how the fast, powerful and enduring the robot can be. Next, the robot was the one that determined all the speical moves and attacks. Some pilots made great combos with certain robots, like a pilot that focused on speed paired great with with a fast robot, then you had crazy uber speed.

There was a sequel called One Must Fall Battlegrounds which changed it from a 2D to 3D fighting game, but from what it looked like, it was more like a 3rd person brawler. Never got to play the game but it didnt recieve good reviews. X-Play gave it a poor score but gave credit that the game had very interesting ideas. Such as fighter jets swooping in attacking the players on one arena.

I still play One Must Fall: 2097. The game's also got a neato midi soundtrack.

The sequel came out at around December of 2003, or at least that's when it went gold. As far as OMF:2097 that was back in 1994.

You can probably find a place to download OMF:2097 for free.

How about Techromancer, Capcom's 3D mecha fighter for the Dreamcast. Great game and rather fun.

I played the hell out of the arcade version of Fighter's History. It was such a Blatant Street Fighter Rip-Off that Capcom sued them.

Cyberbots. I have it on playstation 1, its a japan only release. Cyber Akuma FTW!

It was pretty much a mecha street fighter, lots of cool characters and quite unusual moves. Also Jin from MvC2 is from that game.

I was trying to think of its name....such a great fighter on the Mega Drive.

I loved the stage fatalities that I found out about by pure accident, its weird to think of a time where the internet didn't exist to tell you everything and you had to find it out yourself.

I loved its strange as training mode, with the robotic orb flying accross the screen and you had to hit or block it.
