I'm pretty sure we'll all call it the PSP2 anyhow...
Live from Sony's Tokyo event -- Engadget
Just my thoughts on this. Graphics are nice, but not quite PS3 quality. The graphics look a little bit faster than what the iphone4 can do. I think I would be more excited over that Uncharted title if they had not turned it into an ipod touch game. I dont like how the analog nubs stick out of of system like that. I think I would be really excited for the location based stuff if I still went to a large university. Im sure the OLED looks beautiful, but that along with everything else makes me really scared to know what the price will be.
Edit: A spec sheet
Plus the processor it has inside is a QUAD-CORE ARM A9-Cortex. That's some serious muscle.
Yea the games should look good. But I cant help but feel a tad underwhelmed by the system so far. Maybe its just fear of the price (I'm feeling around $350 or so), or maybe its the unpleasant taste that adding touch controls to Uncharted gave me.

Also, glad they're going with a solid state media. Should make for awesome load times.
Now bring on the games Sony!
I like it, but it's going to be about the "actual" games vs the power of the system. The iphone can already deliver some serious graphics, and I assume that by the time this system comes out, the new iphone will probably push that even more. But, my iphone can't play Uncharted.
Pretty damn impressive.
Looking through the pictures and videos, one icon stands out to me.
SLY MOTHERFUDGING COOPA!!!!!
Definitely interested. I have a feeling a few more details will come around via this year's E3.
The system itself does look pretty sweet.
Kinda irrelevant at this point, but I wonder if they are going to expand the systems per account number. Right now it's 5, and it factors in both the PS3 and PSP. So if I buy a game on one PSP and I have 2, I can still download it to the other psp and play two player games, etc etc. But if I buy a PSP2, and want to migrate some games over, and still keep my PSPGO, I wonder if I still can. For example, so long as I use my same account, I can always migrate my iphone games to the new handset, and still keep my old ones.
All I care about is Uncharted, and it delivered.
Dang.... I'm buying one of these.
So no PSP2 just NGP.....ok...
Skip to about 2 minutes. And at around 5:20 they show the gyros in sniping mode. I love how Gyros work in FPS situations.

And I had just set my mind on the 3DS...
At least you aren't stupid like me and plan to get both.
I'm a little confused on how the game media is going to play out for this. I read that the UMD is being replaced by a flash memory card.
Obviously you'll be able to buy these cards separately and download and store games on them. But will you still be able to pick up a game at a retail store boxed in its own self contained memory card as before?
I would assume so but I've yet to see any details otherwise.
edit: Nevermind, I found my answer.
Now that's an idea!
Uh, wtf is the point of a touch pad on the back of the system?
Probably another option to navigate without your fingers covering the action. In the video they use it as an option to make Drake climb with motion controls, to where the player is shifting his fingers behind the device as drake climbs hand over hand up the roap.
to tell us the price!
Anything more than 300 is a bullet to the head. I'm actually even hoping for a competitive $250, but that's unlikelty.
