I'm pretty sure you're wrong. They're doing a sequel to Pheonix Endsong later this year, but it looks like the Pheonix powers will be going to the Stepford Cuckoos, not Kitty. Mind you, as far as I'm concerned the power should go back where it properly belongs: Rachel.
I thought Rachel has the power of the Phoenix without the actual Phoenix mind. Anyway, the sequel coming next month is supposed to have Jean return as Phoenix and the posession is going to the Cuckoo sisters.
Then she should go back to the red with spikes costume. I lost track of her after I stopped reading Excalibur but if I remember right then she had a fraction of the power no where near when Jean had it.
Oh I loved Rachel in the old Excalibur series. That red w/ spikes costume was hot, esp. with Alan Davis' art. Her look in Uncanny now just doesn't do it for me.
Ray almost destroyed the universe and went toe-to-toe with Galactus. I'd say she was about on par with her mom. And yes, the red leather and spikes = love. Death to the ugly green and yellow miniskirt.
It is not possible for Kitty to be Pheonix. That requires Omega level Telepathy. While the nature of her powersdo indicate psionics, they are not out and out telepathy, and no where near Omega level.
Actually. The red leather with spikes was Rachel's "Tracker" costume from her future where she was a "Hound" ruled by Ahab. Why she kept is beyond me.
I think I remember that it was explained in Excalibur that the hound suit was fused to her in same way and she couldn’t take it off but could use her powers to hide it along with the markings on her face.
Because the girl knows sexy when she sees it. And I don't remember it being fused to her, Buzzbeak. I do, however, remember seeing her using her TK to rearrange the molecules in her clothing on several occasions. It stands to reason she could have gotten rid of the Hound suit anytime she chose to.
Maybe it was just the marking on her face, there was something she could only hide and not get rid of at that time.
I believe it was the markings on her face. I think she had to be "freed" from Ahab to be able to do that, and I know Exaclibur went back to her future to fight Ahab at one point ... and that's where Britain was lost, I believe, when they came back.
I try to forget that. Stupid Marvel, writing Rachel out of the current timeline just to give Cable even more backstory. (Yeah, I'm kind of a big Rachel Summers fan. Her return to the X-Men a couple years ago is what got me back into comic books.)
