Ironhide (tak. version) was delayed to november, so i expect pre-orders for him until october.

ON a side-note: it makes me wonder why takara delayed it, and why suddenly the mpms jumped the prices.

Honestly, Takara can make ANY character at any time, even without license, i wonder why they haven't done so much. But it's most likely due their demand.


Anyway, if we talk about license issues, i hope the Bumblebee movie shines the relationship between TakaraTomy and Volkswagen.

But why would they? The accurate vehicle mode is another reason to buy the figure from Takara and not 3P. MP Jazz without the Porsche 935 Turbo is like making an MP G1 Bumblebee without the Beetle or Smokescreen/Prowl/Bluestreak without the Datsun Turbo. An accurate licensed vehicle mode increases the customer base.

If Takara doesn't care to acquire more licenses or is having difficulty getting them, they will focus more on S3 G1 and Beast Wars. Obviously, licensing doesn't apply to a futuristic 2005 hot rod or a gorilla.

 

This. If they go the unlicensed route, you may as well get a 3P Jazz. A significant appeal of the carbots is the licensed vehicle modes

 

I'd be happy with a fudged jazz altmode if licensing is really the blocker.

The appeal of Takara is when they bring their A-game (which they usually do for MP) they kick the shit out of anything third party is doing. Hush now, the grown ups are talking.

Condescension aside, I can see why people don't particularly care for an accurate Jazz alt. mode at this point. It's a character that should have gotten a release long ago.

In terms of what I expect to see in the near future: Trailbreaker/Hoist, Blackarachnia (outta left field, but who knows?), Rhinox, Hound, Galvatron, and maybe another Diaclone-inspired deco (Red Sunstreaker).

What I would like to see: Hound and Trailbreaker. Like Jazz, I think these two are long overdue. Unless of course, there is some licensing issue. Doubt it in Hound's case, but maybe Toyota isn't on-board.

 

I doubt it in TB/Hoist's case. I would expect them to be in the back half of releases...someone's gotta be at the end, and they're not exactly sexy releases (to most).

 

Skids 
I would take TB as it would most likely get us hoist as the repaint in the same year, barring a Late- year release.

TT wouldn't have to go S3 just to avoid licensed characters. There's still a fair amount from S1 & S2 that wouldn't need a license. Whether those are high priority to TT...that's something else. But strictly speaking, you wouldn't need to go Movie/S3 for that reason alone.

It is for some, probably even many, of us. But not all. Honestly, I'm just eh about the licensing. It's nice, for sure, and I've got no complaint in and of itself, but they can get close enough without it. And, theoretically, prices should be lower without them. But I'm biased; bot mode is infinitely more important to me than alt mode.

 

We were pretty busy speculating at how the new Optimus Prime could end up being MP-50. Think we're all agreed that it's not gonna happen that way now, but I wonder if TT will still make a big deal of whoever MP-50 is?

Like maybe save up Galvatron or Super Ginrai for that position - some big important release. Heck, maybe even Jazz.

Or perhaps introduce a new series like Car Robots / Armada.

Or maybe MP-50 will just end up being Detritus  

 

OK,not 50 but 45? I won't be surprised if something is announced this month or next that sneaks in, in front of Prime. Something like MP43 or Sunstreaker, that they just seemed to have ready and was a total surprise.

 

It's possible, but if they do it, I don't think it will be done for the sake of Prime being 45. I don't think they give a shit...and there's really not any difference of significance between 44, 45, or 46.

 

I don't think they care at all about the numbering TBH. Maybe if we ever get to release#100, since that is a pretty significant milestone?

 

Well MPM-07 is up for preorder at BBTS, so looking forward to that being revealed later today.

 

I have to see this MPM VW Bee before I consider buying him.
