That’s also a good point. They clearly favour characters who had Diaclone origins which probably improves their sales as repainted to the Diaclone nostalgia market.

Ugh ! Repaints , retools , and reissues ! Nope. There’s 300+ G1 characters out there , and my life only consists of give or take 50 more years . This math ain’t adding up .

 

I don't think so he was a part of the " future car" series, just wish I could find the translation of the magazine. I still think the problem TFTM bots have are a) slow pace of the line the last few years,b) no diaclone repaint so there is no japanese base to them and the repaints themselves require new parts for the most part.

I would even bet that right not there are certain BW characters that would sell better than some G1 characters and at some point those characters will be down to who overall sells better. Will see with this Dinobot/Megatron repaint eventually coming, but if it goes on deep discount like Mp38 I'm sure it will change some of their thinking. I was guess development time for BW figues is probably more expensive and time consuming than G1 figures when you consider the comparable prices with no licensing fees.

 

My absolute must haves for Masterpieces are:

Jazz
Mirage
CJ
Windcharger
Blurr
Blitzwing

Everyone else is frosting on the cake  

 

"Future car series?" Can you say you're in a series when you're the only one?  

No doubt on Beast Wars characters selling better than the majority of the remaining G1 characters, though. Almost no one still undone from G1 is as big or important as the undone Beast Wars characters.

 

With the rerelease of Rodimus Prime coming up alongside the V3 Prime, does anyone else think/hope that they're finally going to start doing movie characters? A Movie Galvatron would be sick. I also think that a V3 Seeker mold is hopefully coming some time after Prime, just because it feels like one of the last few of the MPs that actually could use an update; I mean, the Maketoys version looks to be selling like hotcakes and it has a hollow back and a fugly face, I could see Takara swooping in and blowing that thing out of the water.

 

 

I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat. I'm not downing the peeps that want all of these repaints and retools; but COME ON TAKARA!! Gimme some kup, cyclonus, seaspray, carbots, or something that is g1 that hasn't already been made for heaven's sake...

 

Sooo nothing on Jazz, Skids, Hoistbreaker, Deep Cover, black Ironhide, or combiners yet? And still the same “no war toys” statement from Porsche right?

TB/ Hoist was discussed as being worked on in an official interview over a year ago. Guess they just keep getting bumped for other figures

 

I want to see a MPM of that Starscream though.

 

I mean there's been no official word, and likely there never will be. It seems like designer interviews are no longer "in." We didn't even get anything out of Tokyo Toy Show. But as for my own speculations:

• Jazz: licensing hell.
• Skids: obscurity hell.
• Hoistbreaker: development hell.
• Deep Cover: obsolescence hell.
• Black Ironhide: inaccuracy hell.
• Combiners: unimportance hell.
