Ohhh, it's the little things that amuse the scrap out of me......

So we were watching The Aristocats, and I was half paying attention to it. All of a sudden I hear a VERY familiar voice talking and singing. My first reaction was, "What the hell is Jazz doing in Aristocats?". I completely forgot Scatman voiced the cat named Scat Cat, who PLAYED JAZZ MUSIC.  

Jazz is a Disney fan, who knew?  

See, now this is just another reason I need to buy the eventual MP Jazz in mass quantities. I need one to put with my porcelain Disney Aristocats figures  

 

Guess we should know if there is anything worth seeing in a few hours. I think Sunstreaker pics started showing up by the afternoon.

 

How about MP Skids? Fills a niche nobody else has yet. Plus nobody will see it coming  

 

If anyone does Skids I want it to be KFC or XTB. Why? Because they are the ones I would see as most likely to include his "nightmare creatures" and those weird head bogies from being in limbo.

 

Naaa, it won't be MP Skids..........

After twenty years later, we still ask the same question "still no MP Jazz?"

 

Man, I don't even know who we'll all get riled up about if they ever actually make Jazz. Nobody else is quite as classic, or popular, or more of a unicorn.

I'd just be sitting around hoping for Mirage at that point. Even then though... the list grows short.

 

Potential candidates are:
- Mirage
- Hound
- Trailbreaker/ Hoist
- Blitzwing
- Astrotrain

Those come to mind as follow ups in the "Why don't we get character x" -department  
And I'm very sure this list will vary depending on personal opinions!

 

Nowhere near to the same degree though. Mirage is a personal favourite, but a lot of people aren't going to be as keyed up for him. Hound is just... hell, who knows why they haven't gotten to him? Not enough repaints? Skids is the great unloved - though I'd love to get him.

TB/Hoist are being designed, so that's not really a thing anymore.

The trips would be very cool, but they're part of the very short list of remaining s2 Decepticons anyways. Plus, they'd be a whole new thing for the line, so that's still in iffy territory.

No, nobody quite measures up to Jazz for the unicorn status there. I may be biased, but Mirage is close, but lacks in the fanbase popularity that ol' Jazz has.

 

Is this the part where we get hyped about an impending MP reveal in an imminent magazine or trade show only for it to churn out a repaint, tweaked Targetmaster mould or some crud from Bayformers?

Wake me if Blaster, Jazz or Astrotrain get unveiled, in which case - naturally - I will appear to do the victory dance...

 

Wasn't there supposed to be a magazine coming out last weekend???? One that covers new Masterpieces?

Also, people were counting down to today for whatever reason yet the magazine is out officially on the 24th I believe. We've got lucky in the past in that someone always makes a few photos of the important stuff in an issue once it's printed and now the TFW users seem to think the magazine scans always hit on the 21st.

Which leads to comments like these:

I fully expect it to only be an MP-40 spread. I'm looking more to September and October for anything really significant.

 

Yeah, it's either going to be all Hot Rod, or Hot Rod and Sunstreaker. I seriously doubt it'll have Dinobot, and it definitely won't have anyone new, unless it's another Mall exclusive.

 

I just had this thought: what if they run off a black Hot Rod while MP40 is on the line, and he's going to be a December TTMall exclusive, and that's where this rumor is coming from that MP40 has moved to December?

 

It'd certainly be a good time to do it if they're ever going to, all they'd have to do is change up the colouring of the plastic, which I think is a lot cheaper from a manufacturing perspective than resetting for a different character.

 

They'd do better with black ironhide or a cheetor repaint or even a Deepcover if they had to squeeze something in like that. I guess I'll still hope there is something in the magazine having just Sunstreaker and nightstalker to show as new molds since Megatron in March is kind of stretch.

 

Yeah and it'll come with a CD compilation of 'The Best of Al Jolson's Black Face Music Numbers'.

 

Oh, this is easy. Once an MP Jazz is made, here's where the argument/discussion will go:

1. Constructicons (combiners in general, but this one first w/ huge spin-off discussions about Stunticons).
2. Minibots - Will they/won't they? Licensed? These will rile.
3. Bigger, off-scale bots - Skyfire? Omega Supreme? FT is doing them, will TT?
4. Grimlock re-do/Dinobots in general.

 

Well fair enough on the groups. I feel like we spend a shocking amount of time debating the blasted combiners already though. I figure it'll go like this from that bunch though:
1. Won't know until they do, or the line ends.
2. Yes, probably licensed.
3. Maybe for some like Jetfire, Omega not until after a couple of combiners have done well, which has provisos.
4. Yes, eventually, which might be a long way off.
