Whenever I see the Japanese name "Hot Rodimus" I think to myself "that's silly".

Like "Rodimus Prime" isn't silly :p

Damn, now we should share the thread with those sucky and dirty bayformers turds, all you need to admit that they won't sell as good as the current G1 releases, and so far, they got the best deisgn overrall in figures today, megatron is literally the pinnacle of engeenering, something that neither the bayformers or the animal wars will do.

I think this speaks for itself.

I like how you had to specify "current" G1 MPs, because you know there have been a lot of lukewarm G1 MP releases over the last couple of years.

Megatron?, i would call him the most complex, but, still has some flaws due the engeenering, as having parts of the body out of proportion or being full of gaps and holes, it is really stable tho.

I really think Bee MpM got one of the best carbots designs, if not the best, the way the entire hood fols is sort of genius, but that could be just me, if they sell one? I don't know, so fat nobody knows, Takara had to make an uneccessary repaint of primal in less of a month, they have done with hot rod, ironhide, shockwave?, no, so far, they did that with inferno.

If you look at the thread of mpm prime and bee, you could see how they sell everything in just one night (At least in singapore), also bee was sold out in most of the japanese stores in less of one week, even megatron didn't did that.

As if MP-10 and MP-11 sold that well when those were released -- in much smaller number than the current MP releases, I might add ;-)

People hated MP-10 because there already was a MP Optimus Prime and it 1) was bigger, 2) had die cast parts, and 3) had all kinds of play features...all things that MP-10 lacked. Fans wanted a new MP and not a already released character that was smaller, lacked die-cast and all kinds of features.

MP-11 even went on clearance because many refused to buy another Starscream who was just a remould of the already existing and not very well received because fragile, MP-3 mould.

Both were released in much smaller numbers than current MP's and both didn't sell out with MP-11 Starscream even going on clearance.

But then MP-12 happened and it became clear that the Masterpiece series was now truly a series, and not stand alone releases.

And at the time of the Datsuns the production numbers were increased.

Primal and Cheetor still being available and not having sold out, is saying absolutely nothing. Very few MP's have sold out, especially since the increase in production.

I disagree about it being toy based. I know it's dead on toy colors but it's from the animated movie. I'm sure you know that. And yes I bought both because the mold was that good. It's such a nice toy. Sincerely.
Mmmm I remember it all like it was yesterday. Truk not munky seems just as recent as the absolute hatred of MP-10. "The arms are too long!!!" was the silliest complaint I remember. The fandom was always like this. It will keep gaining new members and we will have to explain it all again and again.

It's the sad reality of it all. With every new generation you get new divisions that have to be settled. New fans (or previously hidden away under their bridge fans) that have to feel like their favourite is the only good thing because their self-worth is tied to that perception of value.

Unfortunately, something rooted in nostalgia like the MP line brings is out fresh too, particularly with folks that don't really want to see how the ecosystem of the toys works.

Can we all just start making wild guesses at when they're going to drop the next carbot now?

The reason I say toy based is because it includes toy-specific features not seen in the animation. (And the animation itself was based directly on the toy with little altered deco-wise) It's a moot subject what it's truely based on, my point was just that it's a complete filler release without strong significance, yet is still pretty popular.

    :lol

The next carbot, as in specifically one of the Diaclone Six? I'll guess we'll see Trailbreaker in September for a March release.

The next reveal, period, hell, we'll have that by the end of this week.

I figure it's either Dinobot or Blaster. One of them is going to be in the magazine, and the one that isn't will be at Wonderfest. And they'll both be on display at TransFes... and maybe they'll each bring a friend... or friends... or frenemy... ;)

I'd hitch my bet to that wagon too. Poor Dinobot has been getting teased out bit by bit for what feels like ages now. It actually seems long even by MP standards.

Blaster seems like such a foregone conclusion now with the tape, so I figure he'd be the festival reveal. Dinobot has gotten a lot of announcements, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the Figure King spread for him, and the the big fest reveal being Blaster with his crew.
