Not to mention the odds of getting something illicit from Japan are very low. Real firearms are banned there, AFAIK, and drugs are supposedly hard to come by as well. All of their domestic pornography is 18+ models and mosaic censored. Piracy is very low compared to other Asian countries. Customs is not going to be very suspicious about your package from Japan.

No, all they'll see is a cardboard box with a big picture of a gun on it. Masterpiece boxes don't have windows. Customs won't see the actual article until they rip open the box.

And make no mistake, it will be ripping that they do, not careful slicing of the tape in order to preserve the packaging.

I've heard several people say "If they package it in bot mode it'll be okay." No, no it won't.

Ummm... customs usually use scanners to check the contents of a box - like you see in airports. Slim chance that they will open it if they think it is a toy robot.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I'll re-iterate it here as well in case anyone is interested.

I live in Canada, and we do not have the same laws as the US. If HLJ was to ship to a Canadian address, they shouldnt have to modify MP Megs.

So I will put forth the offer, if anyone who has an order with HLJ (or another online retailer that requires the modifications for a US shipment) wants to have their MP Megs shipped to me here in Canada. I will re-ship it to you once I receive the package. The only cost involved would be the cost of shipping. I will not touch the package other than to simply re-label it in order to ship it to your US address.

You may want to double check with HLJ in order to verify that they would not need to modify Megatron if was to be shipped to a Canadian address, just to be sure.

Just thought I'd put it out there, just to help out a fellow TF fan.

Forgive me for not getting with the program, but a lot of people seem to interpret this as HLJ giving you a hint that the orange tip is removeable:

"In order to maintain your item's compliance with US laws, we recommend that you not snap off the plastic cap after you have received the item."

I don't want to seem overly negative, but may I ask exactly which part of that sentence suggests that the cap is removeable?

If the orange cap can't be removed, why suggest not removing it to maintain compliance with US law, rather than, say, to prevent damage to your toy?

I mean no disrespect to anybody when I say this, but I think people are looking too deeply into the HLJ email. I'm very sorry, and I regret that I have to post a message that is this negative, and I don't mean to "flame" anybody, but I am someone who preordered from HLJ, and I'm just not getting that impression from the email.

It seems like some people are reading what they want to read into that statement, in a "Well, it doesn't NOT say this..." way.

With the way I'm reading into it, there are no double entendres there.

That's fine. Nobody is suggesting that you not cancel your preorder. It's just speculation, because it's very odd to recommend not removing the cap.

I'm glad I've had my order with A3+ for a while now as I'm worried that they may not be able to handle the influx of orders now that its been confirmed that most places are modding (RUINING) MP-05. I wonder if they will be able to get enough stock to satisfy the increase in demand.

It should be an interesting March.

I'm just a nobody here, but a nobody that has lurked for quite some time. I have had my pre-order with HLJ for a while now and from the emails that have been posted on this board from various suppliers it sounds like it is going to be extremely difficult to get mp-05 sent in the united states without having an orange tip modification.
I am not canceling my order as I intended to open the box and display my megatron with my other MP's. Becasue this orange cap is being put on as an after thought, it will most likely be one that can be removed fairly easily. If you intend on displaying the toy anyway (I know some are not going to and thats a diffrent story) I dont see what the big uproar is all about?

Be nice if somebody can sticky a list of all the suppliers who won't be tampering with MP-05. I am sure I'll be able to find a unmodified one in my local collectible swap meet but I still may get it online if I can get it sooner and without any silly cap.

Hmm. You know, I was never really keen on the whole G1-Megs-was-a-gun thing, and wasn't going to buy this anyway, but after seeing the recent photos I really gotta admire the engineering job they've done and may change my mind. I'm definately going to wait for final reports to come in on what these caps are like, but hell, I may not even really mind having one with the cap.

    ???

    Pretty straightforward right there.

They recommend we don't snap off the plastic cap, hence the cap can be snapped off.

Booyah! To be honest, I don't think a cap would bother me, especially since I'd be able to remove it pretty easily. I've got broken pegs out of things like Countdown, so how tough could one plastic cap be?

Thank you. That's exactly what I got out of it. I just suck at being succinct sometimes. Comes from having to pad out too many HS and college essays.
It could be quite difficult (especially without damaging the figure or paint) if the cap is glued on, as some have said is required by US law, and have suggested that BBTS will be doing.
