Is it still a little premature to be canceling preorders from HLJ.com?

I'm not willing to let go of my early bird special that easily.

It's been confirmed that they will modify Megs for all US orders.

    D'oh!

If that's the case where are most of you guys ordering from?

EDIT: I think I'll just hold onto my HLJ preorder for now.....

....TFSource is tempting but they're also not sure about the orange cap.

    Ebay:
www.Agesthreeandup.com says they are 100% not modifying. They're based in Canada. I'm leaning towards ordering there.

Agesthreeandup is the only place that's said from the beginning that they will not modify it. They are going to clean up. I admit I've never bought from them before, but I've got my preorder in and they're on my short list from now on.

(not to be confused with my shitlist)

    No it wasn't.

The confirmation is from the same guy who launched the rumor.

Until we hear from someone else (Why hasn't anyone else received that mail??? HLJ won't just send a mail about something affecting so many customers to only one person...), it isn't.

    (I'm just sceptic about this)

Just received this in my email from HLJ:

i emailed them about it yesterday, so it would appear that they will /indeed/ be placing an orange cap on the toy afterall

Sidecutter, who is a member here, and owner of Captured Prey has made the same promise, but he is sold out of pre-orders.

Could this be a sly hint from HLJ that the orange cap is removable, rather than permanently glued on?

Yeah. Tapestry's right. That's exactly what HLJ sent to me this morning. Megatron will be opened and modded.

    There goes my pre-order...

Ages 3 and Up, you say? I'll check that out now...

yeah - i think HLJ is trying to tell us that the tip will be easily removed - i think i may end up leaving my preorder there instead of the hassle of canceling and trying to get one from somewhere else

Big ups to Captured Prey--in before the pre-orders closed.

The whole situation with MP-05 has me boggled. Why even sell it if you're going to modify it? Besides the fact that your sales are going to suffer, reducing your ability to make bulk purchases, the time/effort/cost involved in modifying it shaves even more off an already slim profit margin. I don't do retail, can someone explain why this is worth the hassle to BBTS/HLJ/etc.--is it just to try to prevent regular customers from trying out new stores and potentially liking them?

If so, please let us know if it's removable once you get yours.

Yeah, making MP Megatron a gun instead of a weapon platform or tank was such a GREAT idea.:banghead:

I think that if they are going to modify them with an orange tip they could use some kind of rubber clamping system with the mod, that way when the customer would get it they could remove it easily. Then they also should not charge full price for a figure that they themselves are going to open just to do the mod.

I really don't see why the mod is needed in the first place if Megs is going to be shipped in robot mode, since all customs officials would see is just some shiny robot that someone ordered.

Yes. It was. Considering very few people would have bothered buying a "weapon platform" or a tank as a G1 Megatron.
