Since my 2 year old son is throwing G2 Prime around right now, I started to think that I see him alot both G1/G2 versions in the collectors market and I wondered, which G1 toy is the most common out there after all these years?

    Probably Optimus Prime.

The complete set (trailer, cab/robot, roller) has been reissued countless times, then with the actual "Optimus Prime" cab/robot he's been used for Ultra Magnus's inner robot, and then there was all the versions of it used with different trailers (Pepsi Prime, all of the iPod docking versions, etc).

Ironically, I don't own a single version of G1 Optimus :lol  Closest I have is Energon Fattimus and RtS Legends.

Not counting the reissues Optimus Prime is still pretty common if you don't care about the handtrs especially. Ultra Magnus is pretty common too. The Jumpstartesrrs and Minibots are ones I come accross alot too, except for Hubcab, I can't believe Ive acquired 2 Bumblejumpers and not a single Hubcap yet. Theres alot of Constructicons out there too. The Vast majority of what I see at yard sales, thrift stores and flea markets are those ones. Oh yeah the first series pretenders are pretty plentiful too.

    Ebay:
Counting reissues I'd say Skids, ratchet and Ironhide.

Not counting reissues it used to be Gears as far as I know.

I would say Optimus Prime and the exclusives. Comic Con exclusives like Soundwave and Blaster. Store exclusives like Pirancon and Perceptor. They're alot less rare compared to most G1 toys.

I feel Soundwave is also a very common TF. It feels like he's everywhere.

Is it just me or does everyone have a hard time reading a question? The OP is asking what G1 toy is the most common. So why are people naming off reissues and exclusives etc.? Those have nothing to do with the most common G1 toy.

I personally don't know the answer to the question but i do know this, after reading here how common the jumpstarters are, I know why. I remember seeing commercials for them as a kid and they looked so cool i just had to have them. I finally was able to convince my parents to get Topspin and twintwist for me. After having them in hand they were the most disappointing toys I ever owned as a kid. They didn't really transform, didn't look good and when they sprang up NEVER landed on their feet. I hated them and regretted not getting a different TF instead of those total pieces of junk.
