I've seen a red moon on various occasions. I'm not sure it's due to what though…

Red moons are normally due to lunar eclipses, but those only happen twice a year and the last one was in March.

    Weird...

Discoloration of the moon can happy at anytime and is more likely due to something being in earths air. For instance: In New Mexico (White Sands), if you're there during or around dusk the moon appears an odd or differeent color because of the sand in the air (which is actualy more a type of salt than sand that comes off of the nearby mountains).

We get that colouration from smoke in the air. They do a fair bit of burning off in the state forest around our place in summer, so we see it a few times a year.

No, that's something completely different. That's when the sky is red at daybreak, meaning there's a storm on the horizon.

Blood moons are an omen, not a forecast.

I saw that too. I think certain kinds of pollution, and certain kinds of clouds block some wavelengths of light discoloring the moon, That however is my theory which is based on zero scientific evidence.

Just a stab in the dark so to speak.
