Home ethanol maker gets boost from record oil | Markets | Reuters
First is, if this is the same thing I had read about a couple of months ago, it takes a specialized type of low cost sugar to make. As it is, the $1 per gallon is a best case scenario. A wide distribution channel for the sugar hasn't been worked out yet, so expect something more in line with current gas prices.
Secondly, good luck on your paperwork with the ATF, since you're basically brewing shine. Until the government changes their tune on that, you're going to have some issues.
Supposedly is can use any kind of sugar, the whole price per gallon depends on the price of said sugar.
The laws are another problem all together, but laws can be changed.
I think to get the cheapest price, this was some sort of unrefined sugar from south of the border. Definitely right about laws can change, and I hope they do!
Ethanol's a waste. It's damaging to some engines, is less efficient, and can actually be worse for the enviroment than gasoline.
Just wait for the Hydrogen or Electric car.
Or just look under the couch cushions for loose change, gather up $100,000 and place yourself on the wait-list for the Tesla Roadster.
I don't think the Hydrogen car that GM is working on will be that bad. I have the most hope for that as Shell Gasoline and GM have a deal where you'll be able to fill your Hydro car up at any Shell station.
Wait. What happened to the guys that developed a system that could make ethanol out of organic waste?
