did bringin this idea into transformers ruin it??

ever since the movie it seems that everything has to have or been linked to the or a matrix

it seemed to take up all of season 3 (which seemed stupid as this item thats supposedly so amazing had never been mentioned before) and also was rife in AEC

yeah it was cool in the movie but i think that and unicron should have finished there.

    any thoughts?

I think it made it more interesting. I mean how many episodes could be based on Megatron coming up with a stupid idea to gain power to be foiled by the Autobots? It was getting old :p  Anyway You can think of it as Alpha Trion still had the Matrix and somewhere between season 2 and the movie he gave it to Optimus.

I mean, what would you do without the Matrix. You must have the Matrix, it would've been cool if they did have a real Decipticon Matrix. A evil Matrix..

the BWII Nemesis Prime came with a black anti-matrix. So in the BWII world i guess there was two martices.

And as for ithe matrix's influence in AEC, it really was just sorta there, no real signifigance to the show.

Yeah, Armada thru Cybertron, the Matrix was more like a tool than anything else (helping Vector Prime with the dimensional transporting and stuff, for example)

I was never too sure what to think of the first Dreamwave Miniseries, where prime pulled out the Matrix to wake up and send a page to a bunch of sleeping autobots, serving pretty much the same role as Lion-O's sword from Thundercats.

i dont think that last parts true cause think about it he wasnt allways optimus prime like hot rod when he got the matrix he became rodimus prime I once saw prime before he became optimus prime in one of the 5 faces of darkness eps so how could alpa troin had the matrix during season 2 but prime was always prime in the beging .When rodimus gave the matrix in the return of optimus prime i belive he became hot rod agian.

Well, Alpha trion rebuilt the damaged Orion Pax into Optimus Prime, so it wasn't the Matrix that reformetted him like it did Hot Rod. I think it was implied the matrix reformatted Hot Rod into Rodimus Prime because he was the 'chosen one'.

In the original Marvel Comics, the Matrix was introduced early on, but it was more a program Prime had to give life to transformers more than anything else. Once it was used in the movie as a tangible object, the comics followed suit as well 9with the whole Thunderwing/ Matrix Quest story arc).

I can't remember the exact title...but it was Season 2 when megatron sends the Aerialbots 9 million years into the past and they witness the megatron of the past badly damage Orion Pax....so they take him to Alpha trion. They also took a damaged Aerial (Orion Pax's 'girlfriend') to Alpha Trion as well...he rebuilds her into Elita-1

I like the idea of it. I think it adds magic to the, otherwise, strictly mechanical and logical laws of physics that govern TFs. How else could Hot Rod just morph into Rodimus Prime without being disassembled, reconfigured, and totally rebuilt? Maybe its OK for parts of the story to focus on the matrix, provided that it adds more to the story. I always liked the episodes where they would travel into the matrix and discover/learn from Primes of the past. That gets toward one of the areas of the TF universe that I would most like to see focused on in a series, i.e., the evolution of TFs from their birth to present day.
