I work at a theatre, and caught the first couple minutes of the new John Cena movie, and it's laugh-out-loud funny. Purely unintentional mind you. The opening music sounds like the music from UHF when 'Weird Al' decides to go to war...but 'The Marine' isn't intended to be a parody. At the end of the opening credits, they show Cena, bring in the title, and Cena...salutes. So far, so cliched. The opening sequece finds our hero rescuing some other poor soldiers. There's lots of explosions going on in front of them, and so one of the whiney rescuees asks, 'how we gonna get around that, sir?' The response?

Come on, you can guess it....

Yup. It's 'We're not going around it. We're going through it.' Maybe Vince McMahon should try making some movies made after 1982 if he intends on making films. 'See No Evil' felt like a cheesey 80s horror flick through the whole film, and 'The Marine' is 'Rambo comes home,' apparently. I won't pay for this movie, but I will go in and laugh at it some weekday when no one else is seeing it.

But...it's funny. Really, really funny. Out of respect for theatre guests, I tried to hold the laughter in until I got out of the auditorium. I almost made it, too...

I wouldn't go see Kane's movie (And I like Kane as a wrestler), and seeing as how I have immense dislike for John Cena... there's no chance in hell of me ever watching his movie.

I just wish WWE would get rid of the 5 minute ads for his movie during the show. It's definately an inspiration for the fast forward button.

Theyve said the R rated cut was actually a pretty good action movie but they've cut it down so the younger Cena fans could see it. I'll wait and buy the dvd (thats supposed to be Unrated (R cut) since its cheaper than going to the movies any how.

See No Evil actually did great...did way than better than expected.
The Marine, from what i hear, won't even break even.
The Rock's movies, all were so-so to boring.
    Hogan's movies, all kinda sucked.

so from what i think, they should all stick with Wrestling where they're good.

See No Evil did OK, but not as well as some of the other horror movies this year. The worst part was not really leaving themselves open to a sequel. Kane as a horro movie monster was one of the best casting ideas I've seen all year. Too bad it was just a rehash of a lot of bad 80s horror flicks.

Also laughed at inappropriate parts of 'Poseidon.'

I don't think that wrestling and film acting are incompatible. As I understand it, in fact, the Rock is on his way to becoming a movie star. But then, the Rock doesn't work under WWE films, so he doesn't have Vince McMahon & Co. trying to get him to put more scantily clad women, bad soap opera angles, etc, into the movies he works in. It doesn't hurt that the Rock is far, far more talented than Cena or Kane could ever hope to be. (I like Kane, and I think that, with work, Cena could be better than he is now; I'm not a hater) Likewise, if anybody ever gives him a shot, I think Chris Jericho could go far in the movies or TV.

I'm another one who thinks that wrestlers and action films are a perfect mix. It's essentially what they do with their day jobs, anyway: try to tell a story with words and actions, and then fight.

Of course, when people say 'wrestling is fake,' I like to ask them if figure skating is fake. Pre-planned routines that require athletic ability and years of training? Could be either sport.

I wouldent call figure skating fake, but it could certainly do with more motor vehicles or unsimulated physical violence.

In fairness, Omegatron, the best wrestlers improvise their matches as they go, so it's not a totally pre-planned routine.

In other words, professional wrestling > figure skating.
