Those A-holes at NY brought it up to $200USD or roundabouts after their server went back up and they "magically" had more to offer.

Got hammered for $48.12 CND in customs for a 17,040 yen valk (I knew that it was bound to happen) from Amiami (Box B, Item B). No damages present upon inspection, however I got a slight oily coating in the valk due to the finish).

Downtime at work means.....I get to mess with NOT Nexx :D

    And here's Not Nexx:

Hmmm. The only screenshots of Nexx in his pilot suit I could find were these:

So maybe it's him? Maybe? Well, the coloring of the helmet is off.

Other than that, I don't see any QC issues as of yet. Everything lines up as they should. Pegs in when they should. The metal hinge/bracket is pretty darn stiff so try not to ham fist it when you're transforming it. I hope they make a fairy squadron one :D  Then I can say I've completely replaced the garbage ass Evolution Toys versions.

It's most likely mold release oil, not the actual gloss finish of the toy
Fairy version will probably come with Nexx, Feff's suit will probably come with Dennis and the Metal Siren will probably come with Ishtar. Given that this is Bandai the chances of this happening are 60%. We got Hibiki in a 2SS of all things...

Hey guys, I’m wanting to dip my toes into the macross/robotech market and could use some advice. Seems like a lot of these pieces are much more difficult to obtain vs transformer figures . What pieces are considered the gold standard that any respectable collector should have?

I’m looking at 1/60 scale or bigger and have a special love for Macross DYRL, the robotech tv series, and macross plus.

Grab a new Bandai 1/48 VF-1J when it’s released at the end of December. Preorders are sold out but places like HLJ should have some available when it’s out.

The current gold standard is Arcadia’s 1/60 VF-1, but those can be hard to find for a reasonable price and the mold is over ten years old. That said it’s still a pretty phenomenal toy and it’s hard to imagine a Macross fan being unhappy with it.

    Agree with @Rewind
There was just a sale at NY for the Arcadia 1/60 Premium Finish versions of Max & Milia VF-1Js with Super Parts. Having a set of those two is a must to me. If you never had one before, getting your hands on a 1/55 Chunky Monkey is a must, IMO. It’s the toy G1 Jetfire was made out of and since has been reissued by Bandai a couple times. That is one of the greatest toys of all time.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Yea so the 1/60 Arcadia's look beautiful but I can only find the roy/hikaru versions in the aftermark at crazy expensive prices. I did notice the Yamato 1/60's seem to be using a similar mold, but the further I dig I'm finding out there's v1 and v2 versions out in the wild. Would you guys recommend the Yamato 1/60's, and if yes, which version? Oh, and how can I tell what version it is ?

Yamato 1/60 v.1 boxes have a clear clamshell in which you can see everything while v.2 has it completely enclosed. Get the Yamato v.2 and they can be very pricy as well. Do your research well before you take the plunge deeper into the rabbit hole. As for which valks in particular, very one here has they're own selection.

Found one review for HMR Nexx VF-2ss.

The Arcadia VF-1 is the exact same mold as the Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1 mold. Arcadia was formed from Yamato's development team.

Yes I would recommend the Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1, I would skip the V1 entirely. The V1 uses parts swapping transformation and does not stand the test of time well. Version 1 has a more narrow nose and removable legs/heatshield for transformation.

Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1's have safe releases and faulty ones, specifically concerning the shoulder hinges(faulty with knurled pins, safe ones have smooth shoulder pins).

    Yamato 1/60 V2 VF-1 faulty releases:
    • VT-1 Super Ostrich
    • VF-1S Roy movie(flap box)
    • VF-1A Hikaru(flap box)
    • VF-1S Strike Valkyrie Roy(flap box)
    • VF-1S Strike Valkyrie Hikaru(flap box)
    • VF-1A Hikaru with Super/Strike parts(flap box)
    • GPB-1 VF-1J Hikaru bundle 1st run, forgot how to tell for the box, anymoon.com might show how
    • VF-1D(Orange)
    • VF-1J Hikaru Super Valkyrie
    • VF-1J Hikaru
    Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1 safe releases:
    • VF-1S Max
    • VF-1A Max TV
    • VF-1A Max Super Valkyrie
    • VF-1A Max DYRL?
    • VF-1S Max
    • VF-1S Max weathered
    • VF-1A Kakizaki TV
    • VF-1A Kakizaki Super Valkyrie
    • VF-1A Kakizaki DYRL?
    • VF-1S Hikaru DYRL?(30th anniversary edition with option parts and closed box)
    • VF-1S Hikaru Strike Valkyrie with flashlight
    • VF-1S Roy Strike Valkyrie with flashlight
    • VF-1S Roy TV
    • VF-1A Angel Birds
    • VF-1X
    • VF-1D Virgin Road
    • GPB-1 VF-1J Hikaru bundle 2nd run
    • VF-1A TV Mass Production(brown)
    • VF-1A DYRL? Mass production(brown with grey feet, movie visor)
    • VF-1J Mass production(brown with white trim)
    • VE-1 ELINT Seeker

At this point, Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1's are expensive, so you're better off getting an Arcadia VF-1.

Only certain releases in the later half of the Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1 run have completely closed boxes like the releases with 30th anniversary stickers on the box and option parts. Most had a window box with a flap.

FYI: I know that a fair amount of Macross collectors here in this thread are in Canada and that the Postal Strike has literally grounded everything, so be a while before we get stuff in.

Canada asks world to stop sending mail

    E-mail from Amiami :

    "Dear Customer,

This mail is being sent to all of our customers shipping orders to Canada.

Japan Post has just reported that due to a strike currently happening in Canada, all shipments to Canada are temporarily paused.

Once the strikes are finished, then shipments will be resumed as normal.

    News - Japan Post

November 15, 2018. The designated postal operator of Canada has informed us that the receiving of airmail items bound for Canada has been suspended due to an operator strike.

    FOR UNPAID ORDERS:
Any order that has yet to be paid will be put on hold until we have confirmed that the strike is finished, and shipping to Canada has resumed. After that, we will send you a new invoice with a new payment deadline so that you may submit the payment.

    FOR PAID ORDERS:
We will hold your parcel at our warehouse until the strike is finished, and shipping to Canada has resumed.

    FOR SHIPPED ORDERS:
Please note that the delivery of your parcel may experience severe delays.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reply to this e-mail with your order number, and we would be happy to provide assistance.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

    Best Regards,

    AmiAmi"

the other option for amiami is to use another carrier, example DHL
for HLJ you can use Fedex
for nippon-yasan you can use BOAT or UPS.

Thanks for all the terrific feedback! During my hunting today I did stumble across the dx chogokin yf-19 (DX Chogokin YF-19 Full Set Pack Action Figure ( IN STOCK )). Perhaps my christmas present this year if I can find a decent price (so far ebay shipped to the US).
