That....doesn't look half-bad. Then again, I have no emotional attachment to the original Lone Ranger, so....yeah. Though I'm still not quite sure how I feel about Depp playing Tonto. Not sure if I'll see it in theaters, but I'll definitely watch it eventually.

I love how the sidekick gets top billing over the hero, lol
Once I saw Helena Bonham Carter in ANOTHER movie with Johnnie Depp I had to check to make sure Tim Burton wasn't directing

Looks awful. And as much as I adore Johnny Depp, I'm needing to see him in something soon that isn't another 'quirky as shit' role... and without Helena f'ing Bonham Carter yet again.

Excuse me waiter, there seems to be a small lack of the Lone Ranger in this Lone Ranger trailer.

Look beautifully shot, though. I just wish more emphasis was put on the hero than anything else.

John Carter 2013. Calling it now.

Disney is whiffing it yet again in terms of marketing this movie.

They should have just made an adaptation of the awesome dynamite comic. The bad guys in that series are perfectly motivated, it works as a classic western, and doesn't go outside the bounds of believeablity. Plus there are some scenes that would be amazing on the big screen.

Same reason Jack Nicholson got top billing over Michael Keaton in "Batman."

Agreed. My prediction is that this thing is going to royally flop. Armie Hammer isn't a big enough name to draw anyone, especially not as the title character. It seems that 'the general public' is sort of getting tired of the constant oddball characters Johnny Depp keeps doing without a semi-serious break. And rumor is that there is some sort of still as of yet unknown supernatural element to this movie, taking it from being quasi western to possible sci-fi schtick.

The whole thing looks & sounds like a perfect storm of meh, unfortunately.

Just checked my copy of Batman and on mine Michael Keaton got top billing.

This is what I've been asking at the top of this thread
    1) why does the sidekick get top billing (yes I know he is a bigger star but he isn't the damn lone ranger, which leads to)
    2) where is the damn lone ranger in this trailer, I don't think I see him but more than 1 second
    3) Why is Helena Bonham Carter in this too, is she the reason why Johnny Depp is single? I swear (and yes I know she is married to Tim Burton) those two are boinking each other!

I'll bitch more later but I do agree with the person that said this is John Carter all over again.
Not aonly did Disney miss the mark marketing that movie but the movie was just god awful, from the acting, to the writing, its just sad because A LOT of money was put into the movie. (And I do like Taylor Kitsch I mean he isn't going to win an Oscar or anything but he is good as what he is marketed for and he just isn't catching a break late with three flops in a row: John Carter, Battleship, and Savages)

Do a google search for the movie poster. Nicholson was billed first. all the DVD covers that are coming up also bill Nicholson first. the blu ray that came out 21 years after original release also bills nicholson first. many times the bigger star will have a clause in the contract that states top billing must be present.

This is a little bit of a stretch... he's clearly featured in several shots.

I still don't like that Depp gets top billing. He's a great actor and I heard that he's a nice guy too, but the movie isn't called Tonto. I've heard rumors that it will be more about Tonto too. The trailer starts off good, but it started to look like Jonah Hex all over again when the rock music kicked. I'm hoping it's a great movie becaus The Lone Ranger lends itself very well to a movie.

It's Disney trying to be gritty again. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Depp gets top billing because he's a known name. I'm guessing that was the Ranger listed just after him. I've never heard of him.

    It doesn't look remotely gritty.
