Think about it!Locomotive-AstroTRAIN
Movie Astrotrain is dead
There is no Astrotrain in the movies.

Astrotrain did die. In comics.
The comics are not canon to the movies.
Indeed. If Bay wanted Astrotrain in his next movie he would just have him. He would have ten of him. The comics mean nothing to him. He wipes his arse on them. If Bay wanted to make a movie to solely contradict everything that originated or was resolved in the movie comics then he would just go ahead and do it. Actually, I'd kinda like to see that movie, if only just for the fun of seeing the people that hold the comic explanations so dear to them try and reconcile things without their heads exploding from the effort.
I'd love to see Astrotrain,Blitzwing & Springer as tripple changers in the TF4 movie. Only because i'm in it for the toys. These will make excellent voyager & leader sized toys.
I doubt it.
Considering how they really just abandonded the idea of the old Seekers in DOTM, it would be odd for them to dig that up again.
Are you sure about that? The LAST time we got triple changers in the movie line, it was with Preview Soundwave (who didn't turn into much) and Mixmaster (whose third mode was just a cannon).
A wholehearted 'THIS'.
Well, the locomotive could have been Astrotrain, yeah. But it could also have been Railspike, or Raiden, or even San-D-Go. But in the end, whoever it was would still have split TFans.
But really, out of all the Seekers located over the years, they only reactivated one? To be fair, it was the most glorious of them all, the chairman of the board, but it would have been awesome to see a squad of Seekers enter the Egypt battle to aid the Autobots against their former master the Fallen. Some might even have survived for DOTM.
As to Triple-Changers, the fact that these robots can change modes like their underwear makes bots like Springer, Blitzwing and Sixshot, awesome though they truly are, near-obsolete. Unless they do like that image of concept Blitzwing and make him a freakish mode of tank and jet.
If the comic books were canon then we would have gotten the bad ass Starscream from the Reign of Starscream comic books instead of the movie Starscream we ended up with.
As to the original topic, I like the idea. A nice way to bring back in the Seeker concept plus a way to add in a character that has some popularity from the past. As an added bonus we already got an Astrotrain release for the updated G1 figures so a movie figure wouldn't put the character on the back burner for release.
There was already a character who had a tank and a jet mode - ROTF Megatron.
As much as I like the prevalence of multi-changing in the Bayverse, we've seen in a number of situations it's something the toys can't pull off that well.
Unless I am mistaken, it was more robot to tank with wings that can fly.
In the ROTF comic, Megatron had both the tank and his 2007 jet mode, but I think that was more to do with a lack of communications.
its a shame about the comic writers, they try their best to fix and link the mistakes bay made in the movies just for bay to fuck things up even further. for god sake they pretty much had to redo defiance because of the idea of sentinel just showing up out of nowhere.
i can imagine in tf4, dreadwing will appear as some cannon fodder or with a completely different personality, ramjet probably as well. then the comic writers will have to come up with some explanation as to why they arent dead and will probably have to redo alliance or foundation
they didnt redo defiance, Defiance still happened within the comics, you can see scenes from defiance in Foundation.
