Is that the first wheelchair minifigure ever in the Bus Station set? I don't remember seeing one before.
There was one in the Park set. So yesterday there wasn't a box of Lego Batman CMFS, today there was... and there were only two left. I got Zodiac Master and Dick Grayson.
Reminder that these are still in the preliminary stage: Blanks or placeholders are usually the norm for new prints/pieces in this type of pictures.
God I wanted that Deep freeze Defender so bad as a kid. I loved Ice Planet. I really didn't have much money as a kid so I ended up having just 3-4 of the smallest sets, but this one and the headquarters was always on my list. Some of my favorites from the old days: I still don't understand why lego completely abandoned their unique space designs. Star Wars is fun (and 99% of the lego I buy), but the old school unique space concepts were incredible. I'd even love to see each them revisited with new sets. New Ice Planet, M-Tron, and Blacktron would be absolutely incredible. I honestly think the new Space Police line fizzled a little due to the cartoonish look of a lot of the designs. It's a hard balance between AFOLS and kids. I honestly don't think you should ever have to "dumb down" something for kids. Give the theme a serious tone, and you'd be surprised how much kids actually enjoy it.
Good call on these sets. I especially love that Space Police set, very fond memories of that one. And I agree, I'd love to see Lego get back to their roots more with Space sets (and Castle too, for that matter). The modern City line is such a healthy line that, to me, is very much in the spirit of old Town sets. I'd love to see the same sort of modern lines for Space and Castle.
Didn't they just do Galaxy Patrol, which had cool color coded spacemen, modular ships and insect badguys? I thought that line was pretty cool. I'm pretty sure Nexo Knights is taking up that futuristic slot for now as well and I think those are pretty cool too. I mean a rolling castle? A Kings mech with huge sword, detachable arm vehicle and storage for weapons?
LEGO as a whole has become a Franchise heavy thing, aside from LEGO City their unique Themes have become Franchises in their own right similar to the licensed Themes. You have LEGO Ninjago for fans of Pirates and the like. LEGO Nexo Knights has become a combination Classic Castle/Space theme. LEGO Friends and Elves have become Fantasy and Paradisa style Themes. And that's pretty much it. LEGO Pirates, Space, Castle, Town they've all evolved into Franchise style Themes and LEGO can only justify making so many sets in a year for different Themes. If we want to see them return to their roots, as it were, we'd be forced to see another huge upheaval on their end and I don't foresee that coming. I know you don't want to hear it, but that's how it goes these days in a world where Franchises become a thing. And yes, I know Ninjago really doesn't have much in common with Pirates aside from the Air Pirates Sub-Theme and the flying ship for the Ninjas, but I think Ninjago has become like the catch-all for LEGO's older original Themes like the Adventurers and the like, basically you've got shades of Castle era Ninja, Fantasy type sets with the enemies, Pirates with what I mentioned above, and a veritable hodge-podge of designs and inspirations. It isn't that people don't like those Themes anymore either, it's more that kid's have become so used to franchises and junk that originality is all but dead, I mean look at the Ideas range, it started strong with sets inspired by non-licensed projects and then it became a huge catch-all for licenses that were better suited for one-and-done things compared to full on Themes. I mean Big Bang Theory and The Beatles are definitely niche. We might get some kind of special commemorative sets to celebrate anniversaries or something, like the Minifigures stuff we got the past few years for Castle, Pirates and Space, but I highly doubt we'll be seeing any sort of return to Classic Space unless some of these franchises die. (Or they start going really out-there with LEGO City and start shoehorning in sets like LEGO Moonbase City or LEGO Medieval Market. Or something like that.) Actually I'm kind of surprised nobody has designed a LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Moonbase set or something inspired by Classic Space, it'd probably be a good way of getting some more interesting ideas out there.
For what it's worth I think Galaxy Squad had some pretty cool sets. These two in particular I just HAD to get. Really dig the removable mech on the Vermin Vaporizer in particular.
that very first x wing was perfection in my mind. That was the true beginning of my love affair with lego.
Hey everyone, I figured you guys might appreciate this. I submitted a project on the lego ideas site. I made a sweet Bluesmobile with roof speaker. Sign up and support it, I would greatly appreciate it! The Bluesmobile The Bluesmobile
^ That's awesome! It looks all beat up and shit. I wish Lego would just go ahead and make all of the iconic vehicles from the 80's, General Lee, A-Team van, Airwolf...
I feel that last year's Star Wars Advent Calendar was a waste. I hope this year is more tempting. I guess it would depend on what's Dec 24.
Always wanted that set but never did get it since I was a tad too late to find it in stores. Did love staring at it in the lego catalog though. Speaking of classic space sets, this one always has been a favorite of mine. Actually managed to get one complete with a minty box about 12 years ago for about $10(feels weird saying that now). ~edit~ Completely forgot but also finally got off my butt and picked up the two Arc-170 polybags. Just need the microfighter Arc-170 and I'll have all the lego Arc-170's released.
Nope. It's gonna be Santa BB-8. There's also gonna be TFA-related microbuilds, Snow-Trooper and one imperial officer.
