The dream house, sweet friends, and classic space figures set are 100% buys. The rest are fun but I’m not made of money.
I'm in for the Classic Space sets from TLM2, at least. The Unikitty bus looks great and reminds me of a slicker version of the Eagle 5 space Winnebago sans wings from Spaceballs. Speaking of Eagle 5: BrickVault recently released instructions on how to make one from Lego: Droid gunship looks smaller than I was expecting. I guess I'll pick it up if only because I recenty picked up a Microfighter Wookie Gunship and having the two together seems right to me. I'll probably pick up an extra set for parts to use in a Star Wars MOC project I have in mind (an Imperial Troop Transport; those rounded ball turret guns would be perfect for it). The Juniors-ish X-Wing looks cute. I don't hate it despite others going on about it. Lego obviously went for a slightly bigger than Microfighter scale but still chibi style for it to appeal to younger kids, and it looks like it'd make for a neat office desk toy. The AT-AP I'll have to think about. I'm not the biggest PT fan just on general principle.
Consider me unimpressed with the Lego Movie sets. The first movie (and Batman and Ninjago, for that matter) had such wonderful complexity across the line. They almost looked like MoCs if I'm being honest. This time... The builds just look super simple and uninteresting. Like, how do even market this: How is that even a set?
It's like one of those Creator-type boxes with tons of bricks that you can build different things with. Supposed to be the different forms of the shapeshifting "QUEEN WATEVRA WA’NABI"
Rally car looks like a nice cheap companion to the Creator Stunt Show truck from this season, and I was hoping the Shuttle Transport would be around that scale - I have one of the classic City shuttle transports in the box o' childhood bricks, and it's actually not too differently-sclaed. Y'know, I never really got into the first movie's actual sets, nor most of these...but hot damn, Classic Space homage will be mine![/QUOTE]
Out of all these I think the only one I'll end up getting is the Death Star set so I can have a normal Luke and Leia.
Yeah, I'm trying to remember if I have a version of Leia at all with the buns. I'll probably also get the Microfighters set for that adorable Dewback.
I like the LEGO movie sets, less excited by the Starwars sets, but then I am a ship guy. ALao is it ok to post fun little Mocs we have done on this thread or is it just official stuff?
Spaces Santa’s Sleigh. This is for our LEGO Christmas village/train set but my daughter wanted to put in the family spaceship, and in her words if we have a spaceship Santa would need a spaceship, because he couldn’t get to us other wise.
I think that's pretty adorable. Especially her logic about Santa needing a spaceship to find you guys. I mean, she's right! On the subject of MOCs, I've been building a lot lately. I recently got Captain Rex's AT-TE and I love it. Such a great idea, Rebels didn't do a lot right but what it did it really nailed. But it got me noggin a joggin so I also took an old Episode 3 Jedi Starfighter canopy and built a sort of salvaged Rebel-era Jedi interceptor for my Rebels Ahsoka. Like a halfway ship between an interceptor and an A-wing she would've made as a personal fighter to suit her abilities. Plus I found the Freemaker sets on sale (never seen Freemaker myself, don't plan to) and while I left Naare's ship intact because I find it pretty creative, I fairly quickly disassembled the Star Scavenger for parts. It looked a lot cooler than it was, honestly it was kind of a boring, ugly build in person. But great parts for building ships.
The Star scavenger is a pretty cool ship design that they gutted when they made it into a set. But building a decent version would quickly run you into UCS territory. The show is alright, available on YouTube, and my daughter enjoyed it. Plus the idea of an offshoot Jedi order of force builders appeals, and the meta concite that it is a retelling of the original trilogy as told by a kid playing with their legos with their own OCs is kind of fun. Edit: if you can throw out a pic of the ship LEGO uglies are one of my favorite things.
