I know this movie is more of a cult classic for some people, and that it's already out on HD-DVD, but this cover art is too nice to not share. I grew up with this silly movie. August 4th, though Amazon shows August 18th.

Dude, I meant silly to soften my own excitement at posting a link to an old ass movie, heheh. I hold this movie above a lot of movies that would have my laughed off the boards. I got all foking giddy when I saw the cover art with the Gunstar looking like a motherfoking badass! :D

Embarrassing story, but when I was little, I wanted my parents to move to a trailer park just because of this movie. Hell I still drive by some in Texas and think, "I wonder if there is a little store in there with some old arcade that no one plays." The important thing is when it comes, I have to grab it with both hands and hold on tight. I almost bought an HD-DVD player and this movie at Frys.

I'd just like a UK disc release.

The only one I know of is a super-rare Japanese kit. I think I have pics of it on my hard drive at home somewhere...

Just had a look on Amazon, I can't believe this has never had a Region 2 release. :(

This is one of my defining childhood films. I love it. I watched it recently (last year) and it still holds good to the adult eyes.

Non-issue in this case, Universal doesen't region code its American BD releases.

Well, that's something good to know. Not that I actually have a Blu-Ray player yet. But this would be the first title I'd get for it.

Just watched the BR last night. Never thought I'd see this movie so clear. I still own my DVD copy so it was a definitely improvement, especially the space footage (I didn't know Gunstar had purples and pinks along the edges of the ship). I'm not completely versed on transfers and how well they compare to eachother, but for a 1983 low budget movie, it made a great HD leap. The new HD documentary was a nice little bonus as you get to see Alex and Maggie speak up about the movie now, as well as hear from some of the other folks involved.
