Hold your horses and don't lose your panties yet.

We were looking up actors from the original movie this weekend and found this.

    Starfighter (2010)

Of course it could be fake, but the story would involve Louis become a SF, and Xur's original actor as well as the original director seem to be involved.

While if true, this could be a disaster, seeing the original director's name in it and Louis as a more important character COULD possibly yield for some fun.

"Alex...What the hell is going on?"

Maybe it'll finally lead to a disc release of the original movie in the UK too.

The Bluray to this movie actually looked amazing. I didn't think they would even try to improve the images, but there are colors on the Gunstar that I didn't even know existed.

If it is true...I don't know, what is the formula for remakes/sequels 20 years later? Good thing + 20 years = CGI'd too much? I forgot.

If I were to make this, which I am not, I would actually make it using the same film style as before, almost as if it came from a vault, as if it had been made in the late 80's but never released. But people who saw the CG would not GET that it was kept that way by design, and I would be fired.

That's the truth right there. I mean, look at Tron...the updated technology doesn't look horrible, and still has a Tron feel to it. Guess we are gonna find out.

I hope so. I mean I hope it's true. If it sucks, then it sucks and we don't ever watch it again, we can go to jail, peaceful.

But if it's good, then Starfighter will have saved the lives or hundred of registered voters.

Ahem, I've always wanted to revisit Ryloth, and with the original people attached, this has a chance.

Doesn't it kinda defeat the purpose of making a sequel to a movie that is called the LAST Starfighter? hahaha

Then again, nothing really shocks me anymore. Especially with Mortal Kombat Anihilation. My god was that movie a cheese fest.

Hahah, well yeah, but it's ok in this movie because he was The LAST Starfighter until he rebuilds the legion, which will make Louis just another STARFIGHTER (2010), :lol

    Most definitely.

Bah. The movie is nothing without Robert Preston. And he died a few years after The Last Starfighter.

Somewhat agreed, but I think the movie could still be good if it has the spirit of the first one.

But the real reason I posted was to say that the Iron Maidens are hot and pho-king awesome!

Dan O'Herlihy (Grig) is gone too. They were the two best characters in the film, IMO. :(

Otis was the best character in the movie. Or have we forgotten to grab it with both hands and hold on tight? :lol

It's not fake. It was confirmed in 2008:

More On The Last Starfighter Sequel

However, I don't think it's likely that we'll see a 2010 release as IMDb is showing or else we would have gotten some updated news in the last two years. It's only the high profile projects that studios try to keep under wraps, and they at least release a little info on them periodically to maintain media buzz.

I don't see a sequel to "The Last Starfighter" as exactly being "high profile."

I'm not sure I'd want to see a sequel either. It's been too long, and I don't want to see someone imitating O'Herlihy or Preston, although I wouldn't mind reading a novel or comic series of continued adventures.

I wouldn't mind just to see what they do with it. If I hate it, I never watch it again and the story ends with the first one. Like the Beastmaster.

    Starfighter: Rise of the Legion?

I'm game for it, and given all the new technology at hand we could get some epic space battles.
