I don't think those creatures are zombies, but rather mutants. The one guy the dad killed was normal looking and the second one didn't appear to be human very much if you look at its head.

Could be good. I've been holding out hope for a zombie or zombie equivalent (ZEQ - it's amazing how strong the 'never say the z word' trope is these days, so I lump em with this) game thats not arcadey bullshi (sorry Left 4 Dead). If it's focus is as much on survival and scavenging to survive as killing ZEQs this could be what I've been waiting for.

Pretty sure they count as zombies. While the cause isn't the usual virus (props for going with the more original fungus) the enemies still perform the same functions as the average zombies.

Yeah, but as an absolute zombie-hater, I still set a difference between the randomly stupid Walking Dead zombies, and the I Am Legend "Tear you the fuck up before you see them coming" "zombies". This one looks like the latter, and I can handle that.

    Looks interesting to me.
So, the ‘undead’ are mushrooms like Matango?
    That’s a new twist.

This one is definitely on the radar.

    The Walking Dead is awesome.
    Poo poo on you! :mad

This trailer had me more excited than any other trailer shown during the VGAs.

Man, if we were dating, you'd mistake my compliments for putdowns, hehehe.

The Walking Dead is hands-down the only media that has ever made me interested in the genre. I just mean that those particular zombie-types don't interest me. The drama and characters in that show are fucking prime. I hope this game takes the gaming side of the genre in that direction.

    We're not dating?

The 2004 Dawn of the Dead version had running zombies.
A lot of the purists hated it, but I thought it made for some good scares.

Yeah, I watched that. I mean I get the whole purist thing. I just don't care for them. I know in a swarm they are lethal. I just don't find them interesting.

The I Am Legend variety, and that Dawn of the Dead remake... yeah, a lot more interesting, especially if I am running from them in a video game.

The human one you mentioned was probably a robber, wanting to steal their supplies in order to survive. (Almost every apoc game/movie has some)

Well and on top of that article, PSN released the HD video for this yesterday and I went frame by frame during the up-close attack. What I originally thought was crazy "Clown hair" was actually the fungus coming out of the guys head (ears, eyes). So the upper part of his head was a bulbous mess. He was very much alive.

So, does this mean Naughty Dog is dropping the "one franchise per system" gimmick? I really hope so...
Unless this is a standalone game,.

II might be interested. Just hoping it doesn't go for the M rating.

    I want to rephrase:

Looks good, but so did the Dead Island trailer. I hope this wont be the same case.

Game informer has details of the game.
It is like uncharted in the way of combat. It a mixture of melee and shooting but items can break and bullets will be limited.
One city confirmed is Pittsburgh. This seems like a tribute to the Romero films since some of his zombie movies were filmed in Pennsylvania. But that just my thought.

    My sentiments exactly.

Although, for a game, the voice acting sells and it felt more like a movie trailer. That's a first for me. I want to see more of it. Playing it on the other hand would be different. I hope the gameplay doesn't bore me enough to just watch the story on youtube instead.
