He’s finally hit Canadian TRU , grabbed last one today and broken head. I have been opening TF packaging since beast wars, this was not being careless.

    It’s an issue with packaging.

They have tied down one of the heads in a place that can break the connection to the neck. It’s usually broken already in packaging.

Yea the heads are tied down with those tight plastic bands. Those bands + soft plastic = recipe for disaster.

The best alternative would've been to sculpt the heads out of hard plastic. If not, then have the bands around the hard plastic of the necks, not the dragon heads themselves.

Guys, so the only issue is that if I buy him, I just must be careful when I remove the dragon heads?

I understand that the dragon heads are make of rubber-like materials...any probably they may deteriorate over time like HFTD Bludgeon's tank treads?

It takes awhile for problems with the silicon rubber to manifest.

Feels like the same sort of material used on the AoE (and TLK) Dinobots, and those are holding up fine as of now.

My Bludgeon still seems to be in pretty good shape, mind you.

Wowzers! Your Bludgeon is still ok?! I'm so envious! That figure was one of my fave moulds and I was crushed by the QC issue...:(

I'm sorry but I really can't see the crack?

He's going for around 47 dollars on Amazon and I'm still debating if I should either order him online or just wait till I handle him in hand before buying him. Cause from the stories I've heard about the different issues surrounding Dragonstorm's headsI'm scared about purchasing him only to find that he's already cracked to begin with.

@Sponge this is how mine came too, but the head had already fallen off in the box. That's the piece that holds the head on the neck so it's pretty bad that it's cracked like that, but luckily you can super glue it back together. Just apply a very small amount of glue and keep rotating the head up and down to make sure it doesn't glue the joint.

Definitely get it. Amazon has free returns that are easy and that's a good price for a really fun figure (if it doesn't come broken, obvi).

I have read several comments about people finding the dragon heads in "one hundred pieces".

Is this some kind of gold plastic syndrome? Thought this was overcome years ago and the only current syndrome was the cheap hollow plastic syndrome.

    Too many syndromes nowadays!

I think it's more a symptom of the latter. There's probably a location on the neck/head connection that's especially vulnerable to stress fractures, which went unnoticed because it's not actually subject to much under normal handling. But then it just so happened, coincidentally, that that's where the packaging design decided to pull a plastic tie against. Just a freak occurrence, in other words.

For the record, mine seems fine, so it's not a guaranteed break. And it seems like it should be fixable, unless the plastic used there is glue resistant.

IMG_6788.JPG Can see why people are getting so many broken dragon necks. Felt like surgery snipping mine out. The little snipties are on too tight and hard to see.
There's no wiggle room for those cheap rubbery heads. Can see alot of these being broken during poor case handling between sellers.

The chest on my Draconicus won't close.

Am hoping there's an easy fix rather than returning it.

Are the dragon arms properly folded up inside? When I had the same problem it turned out I wasn’t folding them up properly inside the chest. I hope that’s all it is for you.

I removed one of the dragon arms so his chest closes better.

You don't need to remove the arms. You just need to pull them forward so they sit closer to his chestplate. If they're pushed back, things start getting all collide-y.

I've had my Bludgeon since the beginning he was released. My treads are just fine and hold very well in Tank mode.

It’s not about holding. Likely due to certain environmental factors, some owners have discovered the rubber treads on Bludgeon (and Scavenger, and probably Rampage) to be leeching their plasticizers, causing any adjacent plastic to “melt”.

It was a chest tabbing issue. Was like that in dragon mode as well.
Swapped him for a new one that closes just fine.

I think some of these are warped , seeing all kinds of issues.

Picked up Dragonstorm and by golly, I really dig the dragon mode and the two bots! What I really like is that the knights really seems to 'scale' well with voyager Optimus...the bad news is that I need a voyager Megatron now!

On a side-note, removing the plastic strings around the dragons' heads was nerve wrecking...XD
