Hello, everyone. A long time reader here. I just want to share a simple mod to improve the overall look of the wave 3 TLK deluxe Bumblebee. I really like the car mode of the new Bumblebee but the robot mode took a little bit of time and fiddling for me to like it. And with this simple mod and a lick of paint, I think it improved upon the figure.

The first thing that popped out when I took the figure out of its box is the car door wing. They're really easy to remove which has been an annoyance at first but later a convenience for the mod. In robot mode, just pop the wings off inward the body to follow the groove of the attachment points and then swing the front wheel sections past where the wings used to be. Then pop in the wing doors at the same place.

The massive thigh armors were bothersome too. So I just swing them down almost to their original position in car mode (it also helps make the outer lower leg look beefier). Then I cut out some pieces of plastic into the shape of the thigh armors in the cgi model and stuck them with blue tack. Painted with yellow gundam marker.

I think they should have moulded in faux thigh armors in the first place.

I feel like the problem with a lot of Bumblebees lately is that they keep shrinking his robot mode in toy form, so he becomes a midget wearing car parts as opposed to something proportionate to the movie model, like BBBB or the DOTM Bee.

The faux thigh armor makes this look pretty good, but I think the car chest is way too big on the figure.

The Battle Blades Bumblebee looks skeletal and the DOTM Bumblebee is too wide and stocky. I think another problem is that there isn't much innovation in terms of bumblebee's transformation procedure. Like the same swing down leg transformation we've been having before this new deluxe BB's leg transformation. And it's like the MPM had to exist first before transformation procedures like the folding top section and the sub wings to trickle down to the deluxe class.

I agree that the car chest is too big even when chunks of it are gone in robot mode and that is why I position the shoulders a bit lower than instructed to somewhat improve the aesthetic and it also doesn't make the head look as sunken. Every Transformer toy look best positioned a certain way to give them personality and that almost always mean going against the generic or instructed look. While I think these figures have been designed with careful thought and some considerations or restrictions, sometimes modifications and additions are needed to be done by the end user.

I agree! But I can't figure out why he looks extra surprised with those eyes.

Thanks! This is actually my first and only Bumblebee figure and I think this is the best deluxe version we got so far.

These are all the TLK figures I have. I'm surprised to find out that Bumblebee is just as tall as Crosshairs considering Crosshairs is bigger in alt mode. IMG_1747.JPG

Here is a comparison between the default bot mode and the altered one. Lowering the shoulders makes for a better proportion and silhouette, in my opinion.

Sorry for the bombardment of photos! I'm just excited to share the improvements that can be done to this wonderful transforming representation of Bumblebee. I never thought I'd like this figure this much and it has become my favorite out of all the TLK toys.

Small but effective changes. The paint job is excellent, as well!
