    Hello Fellow Radicons!

After a couple of detail oriented customs for Optimus and Megatron, it was nice to find the new deluxe mold of Bumblebee and paint him up nice and proper.

Nothing fancy, just filled the gaps in his feet and mixed up a custom paint color using Tamiya yellow and Testors Turn Signal Amber.

    Enjoy the pics below!

I'm working on a scratch-build for his new hammer. I'll update when it's done.

WOW Amazing custom btw (Australia hasn't gotten wave 2 and 3, idk why though)
Guess I'm going to have to buy online. Shouldn't you not mixtamiya colours with other brands?

    Oh, glad you asked.

I prefer using both Testors and Tamiya acrylics. So when painting this Bumblebee, I painted a custom Mix Tamiya yellow followed by
the Testors Turn Signal Amber. When done it matched the plastic color so perfectly that I painted over all the factory painted areas
too. No more multi-yellow car mode!

Nice custom painting! There’s a problem when painting black and gunmetal-like dark colors behind the yellow plastic—it ruins the yellow in car mode. At least when well lit it becomes more apparent. How did you manage to paint the insides of the wheels black?

The yellow plastic is indeed an issue. This figure's particular mix is quite translucent. Lighted photos do exaggerate the issue but in person isn't nearly
as obvious. I debated repainting the entire vehicle mode but decided against it. I'm happy with 'bot mode - so fair trade...

For the inside of the wheels... Well the front ones just pop off (easy enough.) :)

The rear ones took patience and a thin brush. I painted between the spokes waited and then rotated the wheel and painted again, repeating this process
    until everything inside was coated.

I’m reluctant to pop the front wheels off on mine and was thinking of doing that same thing with painting in between the holes in the wheels. But doesn’t the paint scrape off though when you roll the wheels?

Those friction wheels come off and on easily but you're welcome to approach it any way you want.

The Testors matte black that I use dries to the touch in minutes and cures even harder (love that stuff, really.)
So this paint, specifically is great to paint in sections like I described before.

The back wheels on my figure have a bit of wobble, so scraping wasn't an issue.

Cool. I don’t think we have testors readily available here in our area so I just use tamiya acrylics and gundam markers really. I’m an amateur in painting toys but I have posted my own custom painted bumblebee and drift and they’re floating somewhere around this board.

And I recently painted the windows on my bumblebee with tamiya acrylic clear smoke using a paintbrush and it didn’t turn out as nice as I would have liked it. Brush mark and paint consistency fail, you see.

Amazing work! You added so much character to that figure.
