Even as a movie sympathizer, I still value consumer power above all else. People have certainly voted with their wallets this round, and I hope the lower finances will motivate Hasbro and Paramount to deliver a better movie

Good thing TLK delivered some decent figures though. That's the only thing I give a shit about at the end of the day.

    Ouch.

At least the newer toys look pretty cool for the most part.

Yeah, but the movies merch draw in a massive influx fir Hasbro thats unparelled in non-movie years. If the movies go, some of the budget towards Generations and other lines may be cut.

Well, here's to hoping. I like me a good cliffhanger and all, but yeah... Seemed very X-Men-esque and forced...
I mean they did what, $60mil over budget? I mean yeah for those of us who will never see that kinda cash that's an awesome figure, but I think in the realm of movies and entertainment, that's barely netting a positive. Especially with Hasbro's outreach to the Chinese and Asian market with how the brand has kind of blown up over there, and now it seems quickly deflating. I think this will keep them on their toes.. or at least it SHOULD.
I liked the parts with robots. So I enjoyed about 30min or so. But story wise, it's a disaster. I think Hasbro wants to be the next Marvel with these movies, but they're lacking the basics to do so, it seems.
Eh. For me personally I'm busting after two deluxes and two voyagers lol
I like the designs, but we need the engineering from the ROTF days to give us truly remarkable figures in my opinion.

The director of Kubo and the Two Strings is directing Bumblebee, and it has the producer of Coraline behind it.

I think they have a pretty good shot at this. We aren't going to get another Bay movie. If this is received well (I'm willing to bet it will be received better than the previous 5), things are going to end up going in a new direction.

Hell, in my world, I'd have a George Miller Transformers film.

I doubt it. That story may have held true around the time of the first movie's release with Classics/Universe 2.0... but I feel Generations has been holding it's own. I mean we got what 3 waves of toys from AOE, compared to like 11(?lol) from DOTM. CW had like 7 waves didn't it? Looks like TLK is calling it quits after 3 waves, TR is about to be at Wave 4 now, right? With a few more in the pipe?

You know what you are right. If the movie toys really did sell all that well we would be getting six waves of them isntead of TR, but it still has to be a blow to Hasbro regardless.

I haven't been keeping up with the Bee movie stuff because ... Well, I'm about Bumblebee'd out... But is it going to have that World War II setting? Or is it an 80's setting. Because the former would have me a lot more interested than the latter that I've been hearing about.
And maybe the rest of the average movie goers are having some Bumblebee fatigue as well... And we all know how many times that this has been the 'last Bayformers'. I'm counting this as the 3rd or 4th?

Sorry, I was talking about the action figures, the toys.

As far as the movies, they need to concentrate on making the Transformers themselves actual characters that audiences can care about, instead of action movie props. They need to keep the runtime at 2 hours or less. They need better stories. They just need to do better.

I feel like they pull from good, well established material that could set up interesting things and provide great story telling, but then completely fumble the ball once those things are on paper.

YES! There is some kind of funky disconnect that they have with the material, this needs to be fixed pronto!

I wonder if social media and the internet in general has more influence on what movies people see nowadays and if that's why TLK has bombed in the box office.

I don't think TLK bombed, it'll at least break even. But I think the franchise is finished after the Bumblebee movie. Either that or Transformers 6 will have a severely reduced budget.

I think it will underperformed. Paramount will lose some money of this garbage movie. And for the franchise: I hope they reboot the whole thing with the Bumblebee movie. FOCUS on the Transformers, less screentimes for humans especially stupid love dramas and jokes and let the Transformers finished a god damn sentence instead of mumbling around. And stop with this crap of making the robots talk like a ghetto kid.

Exactly. At this point it's insulting how they shit out the movies, retreading the same stories, not giving us enough Transformer action, and just being bad overall. They've been able to keep doing this because of how well they did at the box office, but I hope with TLK's poor performance they actually reevaluate how they're making these and actually give us something worthwhile.
