yep it was bound to happen eventually and it premiered last night. onto the talkyness I watched it thought it was a little funny if a little different (by a little I mean its almost nothing like his regular performances) than what he normally does (especially the Achmed skit that wasnt funny). anyways im really hoping it doesnt kill his career but im sure it probably will anyone else got opinions on the show?
It was amusing. But it wasn't laugh at loud funny like his performances. It looks like someone at the network toned him down. He can adlib much better than that.
Yes, i noticed that as well. For some reason Comedy Central likes to try and tone down their live action comedy shows. It was funny, but not as funny as his specials.
First show can be sometimes rough or good, Let us hope next week will be better cause that's what it counts: the second week!!
He has a terrorist there should be a budget for explosions. They could use a certain skeleton Like the mad bomber in the Muppet show, which this pretty much is. Right now though the muppets are funnier.
I got my whole family into him, and they all thought it wasn't that great. As people here already said it did seem as though it was toned down. They need to let him do his own thing.
I liked it, but will agree that it's not as good as the specials. I do dig seeing the puppets "on their own" without Jeff.
Ditto here-- funny, but not as funny as the one-hour stuff. I thought the whole psychiatrist skit was hilarious, though.
Some of the skits were painfully unfunny. There's potential for the show, but instead of pulling back, doing lame "celebrity" cameos, it should focus on what actually make Dunham a funny guy. That is his ability to perform on stage and interact with his creations in a live environment. Putting them into skits removes the best part of his act.
Absolutely agreed. The show had a few chuckleworthy moments, but nothing like his normal act. And regarding his normal act, I'd officially like to say: less Sweet Daddy D and Bubba Jay, more Peanut and Walter, please. Achmed's OK. The originals are the best.
I agree. Walter and Peanut are the best. If the show focused more on them I think a lot people would have been happier, including myself. But Achmed isn't horrible. And Bubba J's skit last night was a LOT better than Achmed's and Peanut's, sadly.
Oh my God an unfunnier show has never premiered, and I saw Root of all Evil with Lewis Black. ESPECIALLY that dreadful Achmed sketch.
Hmm, I found it to be decent. Not his best stuff, but still not too bad. I liked the Achmed part myself, though it was pretty short.
I think he needs to drop the show, and just work on doing stand up. I find all his stand up funny, but the show it self I don't think i even laughed to be honest.... disappointing...
I cought an episode recently, I thought it was ok. I may watch it again. I've always liked his Walter character. Though is it just me, or does it seem like his ventriloquism skills are starting to wane?
