Actually I was quite surprised at the Fantastic 4 RotSF the crowd cheered for the Transformers trailer. The interesting part was the theater was not even full for the opening night of F4RotSF.

Then why even download it? I sure as hell wouldn't even watch a film for free on television if it was something I wasn't interested in.

Still, each to their own I guess. One thing's for sure: Worst case scenario and the film blows (which I doubt), I'll still find it infinitely superior to season 2 of the G1 cartoon.

Wow, I don't see how the hate can be coming for this movie, even if you think it will only be 'meh.'

Seriously, none of the Transformers cartoons were all that great, not even G1. I know, it was the thing that started it all and had the classic characters, but go back and actually watch the show sometime, it wasn't that great.

But I don't see how anyone could watch Cybertron or Energon; I gave those a chance, and wow, did they suck.

Totaly agree with Windcharger. Like it or not, this movie has done somthing everything post g1 has failed at, plastering the brand everywhere. And hey, if the boxoffice earnings are even remotely decent, we're probley going to have another summer like this in a year or two. Brand awareness FTW!

Most of my co-workers want to see the movie. When I first started working there, they harassed me for my hobby. Tables turn!

Look, I'm no mod, but I will say this:

Why start going at someone that has decided they're not going to see the film? That's their perogative. If a person wants to post on this message board that they're not planning to see the film, they could be truthful or they could be lying. It...honestly doesn't matter in the long run, though, because you're not them.

I plan to see the film. I'm enthused. Honestly, I still can't get past the designs used for the faces - I just don't like them - but I am also very eager to see big transforming machines tromping and stomping around in a live-action film.

All I can say is, there is no reason to jump on someone, but discussing why people feel the way they do about something TF related is the point of these forums.

Although I'm not quite a boss where I work (more of an independent overseer who doesn't really report to anyone), I'm trying to get a bunch of my coworkers to check this fly sh*t out! So far I have tentative plans to see the movie on 7/3 with a group of about one dozen people (including myself and the gf, naturally).
Nevertheless, getting paid to see this isn't just cool, it's priceless.

Yeah, got to agree with you there. Cybertron should never have been associated as a continuation to the Armada group. It was far from perfect, but the translation and some of the battle-animations were great.

Like, I said, the translation was fun, and (although sometimes bordering on overkill) gave a lot of tributes to G1. And if anything, that let you know that the writers tried at last to study some of the source material.

The characters were distinct enough, the humans were not nearly as annoying as the Armada kids, and Starscream was just freekin' sweet. Vector Prime's ending was done in good taste and his voice was great.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, but yeah, Cybertron was a great show, just not perfect... But then G1 was far from perfect, though it did have one thing... The writing in the character conveyed a great comradery in the Autobots (hell even the decepticons), and that's something I only saw in BW and Cybertron. Hopefully this movie will have that same element. (Judging from Mr. Roboto's review, it seems to though).

Rattrap and Dinobot would like to have a word with you.

I love that the Transformers name is plastered everywhere again. Though I do dislike people saying stupid things to me about Transformers that obviously haven't been interested in them in nearly twenty years. I can appreciate enthusiasm, but the fuzzy memories of things they appreciated two decades ago leads to some very awkward moments where I'm not sure if I should correct them, or just let it flow and try to ignore it. Most of the time I choose to ignore it, unless it's someone that annoys me on a constant basis with other things. It's tough to just sit there and shut up when it's a subject I know quite a bit about and they're just bubbling with enthusiasm in all the wrong directions.

Ah well, the merchandising blitz is worth it. There is no way any Transformers fan could not see something out there on the shelves right now that they'd like. There's bound to be something for every single person out there right now. And that's a wonderful thing.

The movie's gonna be out in less than 10 days here and I still haven't seen one trailer on TV. What time are they aired? :(  (I am in Australia, thank you.)
