This thread is pretty insignificant, but I'm sure some of you guys have had a moment like this. I'm working late today (covering for a friend), and I went to the break room and got myself a pepsi from the machine. Out pops my Pepsi with an Autobot symbol highlighting the "Transform your Summer deal"

Someone's making money off this, and I could be a hippie about it and bitch about corporate nonsense capitalizing on this movie, blah blah blah. Two years ago, the only place we saw Transformers was on a badly-edited CN cartoon, and on our shelves and those of the stores.

Now, pepsi cans have Autobot symbols. We've been fans of this for 2 decades, and, like it or not, this summer belongs to the Transformers.

My boss actually wants to plan a company trip to see the movie (meaning on company time meaning I will get paid to see it), and I love hearing people who normally think nothing of TF's get all excited about them, so I'm with you there.

Dude, that would be sweet. I need to talk my boss into that. I work at a Veterinary College, so I don't know how the movie would apply, but I'll think of something.

Yeah, its really only comparable to the good ole of days Gen1 in the mid 80's where Transformers branding was ubiquitous. You could stroll in many non toy dept aisles to find tons of Transformers merchandising. Nice to see Tfs back...truly back!

Just seeing the trailer was enough to give me one of those 'moments'.
Real Transformers - Honest to goodness REAL TRANSFORMERS having a bounce-up right in front of my eyes... They've made it COOL to like Transformers!!!

Transformers is back in the biggest way possible and for the first (and last?) time in my life I'll actually be an authority on something popular!

No you're not. You might even lie and say you have not seen it after it comes out (maybe not until DVD), but you will watch it.

    Why?

I can't think of any reason for someone not to go see it...UNLESS...

    1. The person's legs are broken, and nobody will take them to the theatre by wheelchair.

    2. They are blind. (literally couldn't SEE it then)

    3. They are too heavy set of a person to fit into the seats at the theatre.

    4. They know they will be dead before the date it's released.

    5. They have a bomb attached to their head that cannot be removed, and if they see the film, it will explode.

The above reasons are the only ones I can think of that would be sufficient to prevent someone from going to see it.

There. I caught a little error in your post.

    You're right, though. It's...exhilarating, in a way, isn't it?

I guess...but I think we as a fandom are a tad bit bias concerning Transformers, and therefore make this movie to more important that what it actually is. To us this is the ultimate TF experience, but to everyone else this is just another summer blockbuster.

Yeah, thanks for the correction. To be honest, I only posted that because it seemed to be the major opinion. Personally, if they released Cybertron on DVD (which I wish they would hurry and do) I would own them all.

Yeah, after all the Star Wars, LOTR, Harry Potter, Pirates, teh Matrix and endless comic movies over the past decade. Its finally good to see Transformers getting its damn due. Great time to be a fan and the over merchindising doesn't bother me one damn bit at least its something I can stomach instead of a giant green Mike Myers hanging over Burger King. Ugh, screw Shrek.

When I go see the movie (4 nights in a role or more) I won't ask for student discount :)

Why? Because every little bit of extra money contributes to the possibility that Transformers MIGHT just PWN everyone else in the box office.

And I don't care if it's just a stupid waste, I'm fully supporting this movie because IT'S TRANSFORMERS!!!! Finally, a blast from the past!!!!
