wtf happened to them.... all the newer SWTF have cockpits for them but they don't come with them anymore.... i mean commander rex has 2 spots for pilots..... it just seems so incomplete w/o them...
The lack of pilots is actually now a reference to the original G1 toys that came from the Diaclone line (Like Optimus Prime). They had driver seats and such, but nothing to sit in them! In all seriousness, I don't mind the lack of drivers and such. Opening cockpits is neat, but I find that actually having someone operate the robot in the cockpit doesn't really make that figure a Transformer (although in truth, the SWTF crossovers never were true Transformers from the start, just morphing battle mechs.)
My brother misses 'em, I don't really miss 'em or anything though. They are nice for the little micro-machine vibe they give off. It makes me wonder if they have some SWTFs planned that would be in the same price point, but of smaller vehicles. Those not having mini-pilots would make sense.
QFT! Seriously, SWTF's aren't that great anyway, so who cares about the pilots. The figures were crap, let alone the pilots! I don't really give a damn about the pilots. It doesn't affect them much. It's like asking if all gundams should have pilot figs. No. Although, i agree with the whole 'they got eaten' theory.
I too enjoyed them. If they weren't going to go to the lengths of making the SW vehicles transform into carbon copies of the characters, include the pilots! If it were SW vehicles into either TF or original characters, then I probably wouldn't mind so much.
MicroMachine Star Wars Action Fleet figures from Galoob fits nicely with them. I used them also before parting with my SWTF's and solely focusing on SW AF.
yeah I miss the little guys too. I like to keep them in vehicle mode and the pilots were a great addition.
I miss the little guys too. They added play value and general appeal to all of these figures. It would have also been great to get little drivers with the Marvel Crossovers. A tiny, mighty Wolverine and Hulk battle would have been awesome.
