They decided to pass on Bush and sign Williams to a long-term deal.

One of the all-time biggest blunders in NFL Draft history.

If I were a Texans fan, I'd find another team now.

No they made the right move. They play in the same divison as the Colts. What Bush going to do for them? Help them score more points right? That would be great, if only their defense didn't suck. Hope the Houston fans love losing games 38-31 or more. They get a guy who could turn into a game changer on defense. And we all know how championshios are won. All they need to do is draft some help on the O-line and they are in business. To all Houston fans enjoy Mario Williams driving P.Manning crazy.

You should not draft to consider only one team.

And if all things are equal, and Bush (and even Young) and Williams all reach their potential, I'd still chose the RB or QB over the DE.

    Particularly with the first pick.

Nothing against Williams - he could be a great player. But we were 2-14 last year. Our offense was a freakin' joke. We've spent the last four years of picks on the D line. We had plenty of 'needs'.

And if Bush turns out to be what he could be, it was a chance to put a face on the franchise like no other. Same with Young.

Worse yet, the pick was made by a GM who appears on his way out. And our current starting RB, who has been solid, can't stay healthy anyway.

Our QB spends most of the game on his back. An offensive weapon like Bush could have helped him more than this could.

Things are majorly screwed here in Houston.

Well I will only slightly dispute the theory that you shouldn't draft to consider only 1 team...in reality drafting to consider 3 teams makes sense if you can parlay it into winning your divisional games. That goes a long way into getting a playoff berth. I don't think Carr is a bad QB really...like you say he spends too much time on his back. The money to bring in another QB could buy a real O-Line to protect the poor guy and let him live up to the investment that's already been made in him. Wouldn't do any good to draft Bush and watch him lay on his back for another few 2-14 seasons.

Correct! Where I'm from, it's common to say that about hot chicks.

Anyhow, Bush is a once-every-10-years game-changing player. He would have made the Texans' offense dynamic and improved everyone around him. Williams has potential, but can't impact a game like Bush.

The Texans needed a playmaker and drafted a risk, IMO. Bad trade-off.

If I were Texans and I know I won't draft Bush I'd trade my top pick for a first and second round picks to strengthen my team. Getting Williams may not make the team that much better compare to a player like Bush who's someone really special and can play RB, Returner, even WR. Bush can very well be the most exciting player in NFL next to Vick and it's not a good business decision to pass him up so early. At least get multiple draft picks from teams like Jets or Raiders who craves Bush and build a good team with them.

As I am watching this, I'm surprised Leinhart hasn't gotten picked yet. I think that Bush will end up being on of the Top 5 rushers ever, most deffiently.

    Yes, Houston = Dumb.

Ugh, I really don't understand how anyone can be suprised that the Texans didn't take Bush. One good player in just any position will not help the Texans start winning games. Frankly I'm suprised that they didn't trade away their number 1 spot to get a few more high spots in the draft. Even if Bush had gone there he wouldn't be able to do anything. No one on the field is good when your offense line can't stop anyone for long enough for Carr to get a good play started.

The Texans need to concentrate on getting an offense line and some better defense. Bush would benefit any team that he went to, but the Texans aren't good enough to maximize his talents, so I don't understand why people were really expecting him to go to Houston.

Bush wanted QB money for being a RB ... I think the Texans would've made a good move either way, but what's the lifespan of a RB in the NFL? To give an unproven rookie (yeah, he did great in college, but so did countless others) a 50-60 mil contract with 25 mil in guarantees just to watch him blow out a knee is a tough move.

And Denver took Jay Cutler! FUCK YEAH!

I was hoping my Niners can build Defense first or at least strengthen their OL but Vernon Davis is a terrific TE and will no doubt score lots of TDs for SF. Let's hope Niner's D will be addressed this draft.

I totally disagree. As a Chiefs fan, I think they wasted the pick on a position they didn't need. They improve diddly-squat with Cutler.

They still need a DE, RB, WR, and TE.

    Now,

Chiefs get Tamba Hali. Guy can flat out play and is a major upgrade over Eric Hicks.

Best pick so far: Bush to Saints
Worst pick so far: Holmes to Pittsburgh.
