    Houston Dome : Mega-Engineering : Discovery Channel

designers plan to put a gigantic dome over houston. retarded much?

First of all, all the grass, and gardens would die due to lack of rain,

and second of all, what about hurricane debri battering the dome?!?!?
imagine giant shards of this falling on buildings and crushin people.

omg this is just like the simpsons movie......................

Is this a joke? Tell me its a joke.
All 'reasoning' as to why it is being done aside, its stupid.
Is it April Fools? No. So why is this even being suggested? LOL!
In all fairness, its a concept and nowhere near a sure thing. Thank goodness too. 'Miracle Acrylic Bubble Makes It Possible'. Jetsons. Underwater cities, all these paralells come to mind.

I thought our piddly 'Perth Belltower' was a waste of taxpayer's funds, this makes it seem OK by comparison.
Our waste of funds, tiny, belltower that was apparently too loud for the office workers and had to be muffled...I hate the bloody thing:

Looks a lot bigger than it actually is, you need to squint to see on the opposite river bank. Still, a huge dome would be hard to miss. :lol

theres also one of a huge mega tower in japan. thats notihing more then a very tall city. so big., after taking the elevator, you have to take a small railtrain across the tower to get on another elevator then repeat 4 times to get the top of the tower.

it will be able to withstand hurricane winds with is middle pillar and survive earthquakes with its big ass shock supporters.

dome over houston. i say they were drunk at an office party when they thought that up.

Isn't this just an extension of the average American's desire to never go outside again? (Source: the writing of Bill Bryson)

    I've been to Houston before.

I'm ok with locking all those people in a giant bubble.

    Absolutely retarded.

The ventilation spaces won't be able to vent out pollution fast enough, thus causing air quality to decrease; and if they were, it would defeat the purpose of the dome (which is what again?).

The surface of the dome would become dirty very easily, thus requiring a HUGE labour supply and amount of money to maintain.
