I hope Rogen is at least half-way serious in this. GH was campy, but he was a serious character. It could be really epic if they pull it off. Especially Kato.

I'm not very familiar with the source material, but Michel Gondry is a genius. If this is a mess, at least it'll be an interesting mess.

Also, I might see it just for the 3D. Gondry has a knack for coming up with inventive visuals, and in interviews he seems enthusiastic about using 3D and doing stuff you can't do with 2D.

Its a shame Brandon Lee died so young he could have played Kato as his father once did.

Oh God, now I'm all hyped up for it. A character I didn't even know about until a month ago. I'm a huge Seth Rogen fan, and this looks awesome.
Looks like next year is gonna be a good year for me...Green Hornet, Thor, Captain America, and Green Lantern. There's also X-Men First Class, which I'm not AS excited for but still excited.

To people that doubt Seth Rogen can pull off the superhero role, think back on Michael Keaton, Heath Ledger, and Robert Downey Jr.
Now I'm not saying Seth is going to be ANYTHING like Heath Ledger, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm just saying that we should all give him the chance he deserves. It's not like Seth has never taken a role seriously, he's always been given very non-serious roles. And that's where people lose faith.

Mixed feelings about this. I was hoping for a more straightforward take on the material, but I gotta admit that the trailer did keep me laughing.

I see that they kept Kevin Smith's take on Britt as the partying tabloid-magnet, but seem to have dropped the generational aspect of the Green Hornet. (I say seem to, because it's not clear yet why Kato possesses an arsenal, or why James Reid is "a complex man".)

It's not what I expected, but I'm cautiously optimistic for this.

Thought it looked a bit too generic. I don't get "Green Hornet & Kato" from the trailer. I get two guys dressing up and acting like them. Plus the film looks like it's lacking a tangible style.

It also looks like it should have been released in the Summer, not in January

Kevin Smith should have stuck with it, but I have to say watching that trailer made me want to eat some red meat.

Kevin Smiths version is being used as the basis for the Dynamite comic. It's actually really good, but smith wanted a generational story with basically the old green hornet show having happened, and now his son was taking over after the original is killed. He gets trained by the old Kato and Kato's daughter is the new Kato. The movie executives didn't want a female Kato among other things. But they apparently kept the party boy angle. Smith left over script issues. It remains to be seen if he was right or not.
