Was there a toy of that character, like in Japan or anything? Or was it just a complete fabrication?
As far as I know, it's a complete fabrication for that episode only
Ahh, I wasn't sure if there was a preexisting Japanese bot that they animated or what. Thanks for the info!
This is the only pic I could find with a quick search
As a kid, I always thought it was supposed to be a combined form of the dinobots =)
And when I was a kid I always remembered Hound saying "Superion here sure did the trick"....hooray for false memories!
well. to the episodes credit. Heavy metal war is the first appearance of the constructicons and devestator as The first combiner team providing megatron with a heavy tactical edge. The giant autobot negates that and levels the field if only by buying the autobots some time.
Still it forshadows the autobots getting their own combiner super bot later in the line. And from that point leveling out a counterpart autobot combiner for almost every decepticon team.
predaking- sky lynx
mon storr (pretenders), pirranacon, I don't think have autobot combiner counterparts but are countered by things like the powermaster cars.
Edit: thanks to spritesoda for the info on sky lynx being a combiner though only two sections and one is mindlink drone. still I think I agree with the logic since they do have a super mode and were marketted around the same time.
just a small mistake - Defensor was the opponent of Bruticus. Sky-Lynx was the enemy of Predaking.
Obscur TF's! Nice site!
He's not a bad looking bot now that I look at him. Wonder what he would turn into?
I always thought he was Broadside.
That has to be one of the stupidest moments in Decepticon history. I know the 'cons were never all that great in the brain department, but you would think at least one of them would realize "Hey, it's a giant Autobot. Wait a minute, if there's a giant Autobot, where in the hell have they been hiding it? And don't they have a guy with a hologram projector? Hang on a minute..."
I'd wonder why none of them were even ATTEMPTING to shoot him.
Probably they were using all their strength trying not to leak lubricants.
Didn't some one find a OK of something a while back that looked almost exactly like this guy aside from a big ass pair of wings on his back, I'm sure it turned into a shuttle or something.
As for not shooting at it didn't megatron have all of the con's power at that point or something, it could have just been megatron was the only one able to shoot but was to worn out from his fight with prime to do it.
Very well put, Don.
