Honestly, I would post what figures you're interested in first.
That would make it easier for people to identify if the figure has issues (instead of covering the entirety of G1 issues).

Though I'm sure there is a list of common things as well.

Try vinegar applied using a toothbrush or a cotton swab or cotton ball. Just make sure you rinse the toy thoroughly after you are done. It would be ideal if you could disassemble the toy prior to cleaning...that will probably make it easier to properly clean and rinse the affected parts. If you disassemble it, you might try using wet baking soda and a toothbrush first to scrub the rust off of it...thereby precluding the need to use vinegar.

I finally have a Decent G1 84' Bee. He's been hard to find lately, not sure if its because of the movie or The toys that made us...

Thanks. A couple of examples would be Getaway, Computron (I'm aware of the trigger not working in some copies of Scattershot) and Double Dealer, to name a few.

Hand on heart, I never thought I'd see a G1 Trypticon in the flesh. I remember looking at the prices on ebay and sighing. So I was delighted when the platinum edition reissue came along. Best G1 citybot after Fort Max?

Once again, we've had similar experience.
I never had Trypticon when I was younger, and neither did anyone else I knew. Now that I think about it, the only citybots I owned back then were Fort Max and Omega Supreme (who may not even be considered a citybot).

Even in the early 2000's, before G1 prices skyrocketed, Trypticon was damn expensive. I got mine at a Botcon, I think '99, and I paid $200-300 for it, which was a lot for a TF back then. It's complete and in good shape, other than some tarnishing on the chrome feet. But I agree that it's probably the second-best citybot after FM.

Over in the UK it was Metroplex and Scorponok that everyone had. I think every Tf fan I knew as a kid got hose guys for christmas 1986/87.

Looking back, I'm sure you feel like you got Trypticon for a steal, especially complete. That was the real horror of looking at him on the second hand market. Sure, you could buy the dino for a decent price, but if you wanted all the accessories that made his alt modes come to life then you were going to wind up splashing out serious money.

I do remember seeing how much Full-Tilt's gun went for; back then it was around $50, so I'm guessing it must be more now. I also saw back then that other citybot accessories were outrageously expensive, like the Spike Headmaster or Scamper's gun.
I know some people advocate piecing together a TF as less expensive, but when one accessory costs that much, I wonder if it's worth it for the citybots.

I audibly gasped just now when I pulled Warpath’s arms out for the first time.

    Thank you!

Trypticon is way cooler than Fortress Maximus. I mean, after you build your huge Autobot City with Fortress Maximus, and all the other various Autobot bases, you can now have Trypticon walk through it and destroy it all!

Trypticon was always way cooler. And he also has that really awesome Warship mode to boot. Best third mode out of the four bases. Scorponok is second.

Here in Greece most of us (kids) didnt even knew the original prime existed as a toy. My first prime was likewise the Powermaster, a gift of my beloved Godmother. I can only speculate into what hardship she must have gone to buy me that expensive gift, because she was of poor means back then....but I digress...Anyway years upon years later on a small town shop I saw him: The original Optimus on the showcase of a small town toy store. I must have been nagging an entire day to my grandmother till she finally gave in. Though I loved him too, the power master was never dislodged from its place as 'my prime'. As I approach my 34th year in two months time, I can name these two as the two most valuable pieces of my colection. Not because of monetary but sentimental reasons. Both are played to death and both carry feelings that no sealed box no matter its grading will ever bring me.

I’ll never understand why everyone likes Trypticon more than Metroplex. The motor gimmick seriously interferes with the articulation and I can’t pose my robo dino the way I want. Always thought Metroplex and Scorponok were the better ones.

Better proportions, better alt modes and he is a walking dinosaur the size of the newborn I will probably never have.

Not really. Everything on him is in the right place and right size. Metroplex is a box with gorila arms and oak trunk stubby feet.
