Yep, they're pulled out - although I will admit I only found out about this less than 2 months ago, after all these years! :lol

Maybe more visible in this pic?

Hmm again not a great angle, but rest assured, they were :)

    All the best

    Hi all,

Cleaning question. I recently purchased a re-issued Takara D-62-S Galvatron from Black Omega and it seems to have some "rust" (?) between his legs. Now I'm not mad or upset at the seller for this (honestly, I doubt he even noticed it) and besides he sold me the figure for a great price :)  I'd like to remove all of it if at all possible. I believe the figure was in storage and some water condensation got to it or something. This morning I decided to go the Toy Polloi route from YouTube and take a bit of lighter fluid to it along with a Q-Tip and it took several but a lot of it was removed but not all. The pics I am including make it seem less of an issue but believe me it is still stubbornly there. Any more pro-tips about removing "rust" from G1s?

I have heard cascade and a toothbrush works well also, but I'd be wary of the plastic.

I just bought a complete G1 Computron from Transformersland.com yesterday. I'm so freaking happy i finally bought 1 of 2 of the transformers gestalts i need to finish off all of the g1's. I got a really good one since it was the best one out of 2 that was there. When i get it I'm taking pics and posting on here for sure.

My favorite right now is the one I bought most recently, Octopunch. Great shell, and the inner robot is nice. I'm also partial to the Pretender Beasts. But if you don't have a Pretender yet, I'd go with one of the cheaper 1988 guys. I love the Decepticon Pretenders just because the shells are more interesting.

Defensor doesn't get a lot of love. How many 3P versions are there compared to Devastator or Bruticus? He's overshadowed by every other pre-movie combiner, and probably most of the post-movie combiners (other than the Seacons or the Pretender Monsters). Maybe it's because they never had a spotlight episode in the cartoon? The Protectobots just showed up one day. TFWiki says it's because the production staff didn't have the info on the characters when they were preparing S2, so that's a shame.

I'm definitely one who likes G1 just because it's G1. It's hard to be objective about the toys sometimes. Part of that is nostalgia, of course. Yes, they have flaws and often pale in comparison to modern figures in one way or the other (though not all), but you forgive them because of the era they were made in...and they have such personality!

Hi :)  Anyone have any advice on what to watch out for regarding QC for a first time vintage shopper? I've read about rusted pins, 'c' clips breaking (on head masters and target masters), and brittle/crumbling plastic. Anything else to watch out for? Specific toys that have common issues, etc.? Thanks :)

That list can get pretty long. First thing you want to know beyond all the common breakages I would think is how to spot a KO. I actually have a review I did on G1 Bloated fist prime, and how to spot a KO if you want to watch it. (click my sig) With Primes' the trailer door hinges break, there's a lot of little parts that go missing a lot of the time like the hose gas pump and nozzle, fist and missiles.

It does really matter what specific figure you are looking for. Ask here I'm sure myself or another member here would be happy to help.

Oh... be wary of any Gold plastic, any really.
