I always thought G1 Menasor would have made a better Autobot. He's got that whole handsome, well proportioned thing going on. Plus, you know...cars. The unintended consequence of making him a 'Con is that he looks a bit meek compared to Bruticus. But perhaps that's not fair. He's a pretty solid, compact Scramble City combiner.

There aren't many things I regret not buying, but this set is one of them.
I remember staring at it on the Robozone and Digital Toys websites when it first came out, trying to decide if I should get it.
I love the Gobot homage, and the colors are amazing, especially the white BB. Unfortunately the prices for it now are astronomical.

Well, you know the rumor is he was originally going to be an Autobot, based on early cartoon models showing Menasor with a 'Bot symbol.

Objectively, Menasor is not the best G1 combiner, but I think he may be my personal favorite overall, just because of my own experience. Y'see, I never had the Stunticons as a kid, though I would stare at catalogs and wish for them. My best friend at the time had them, so I played with his, but after he moved away I didn't see a Stunticon for 14 years or so. I wonder if my connection with the Stunticons is due to that friendship...TFs actually brought us together and he was one of those friends you don't forget

Well, then I discovered the ATT Marketplace. Bought a Stunticon set that turned out to be in immaculate condition, with perfect stickers, all accessories and techs, for $50. To this day, I still think that's the best TF deal I've ever gotten. Funny thing is, I still remember going to the post office, getting the package and opening it, such was the emotion of the moment for me.
Sorry for the gushing, many of my TFs are tied to a story or an emotion, and that's just my Stunticon story :D

Yeah, I remember reading that, most likely on TFwiki.

Hey, gush away. I love stories like this and relate HARD to them. That feeling of gazing at something unobtainable and then being able to play with it, but it's not you that owns it. I've lived that one, for sure!

Yep, I was actually considering paying over $350 for a set, then I saw one pop up on UK Facebook groups for about half that price...and then my mates grabbed it first and gave it to me as a birthday present! Win win :D

This, Proto version Astrotrain, Black Tracks, the two Magnus redecos and Tigertrack have all drifted into crazy price territory.

    All the best

Holy crap, that's some birthday present.
And it seems like just about all of the Ehobby releases from that time are in high demand; I traded my Star Convoy reissue plus a couple other things for Ehobby Overcharge, and I was not expecting to have to give up that much.

Yeah, another friend also had some TFs I had to admire from afar, like Smokescreen and Cyclonus. In a very nice and unexpected gesture, before I moved away this friend gifted me his complete Slugslinger and his awesome KO winged Sludge, both of which I still have.
There I go, gushing on about another G1 TF story... :D

Yep. You'll often find loose Lengends figures with the Pretender visor misapplied because of this.

Proto Astrotrain. Wallet emptied. That is one of the few prototypes that I'd love to add to my collection.

Astro, Shining, Tigertracks and Jafcon Prime were the only ones I missed before selling them all off. Many if the ehobby stuff is really really excellent.

Other than Jazz and Cliffy, I think my fave toy as a kid was bizarrely actually ... Brawl.

Beside his transformation being effortlessly fun and simple, I just remember him being like this indestructible brick I must've dropped down the stairs a dozen times or more (on bannister recon, naturally, as Vortex scoured the carpet badlands overhead.. :peoples: ) without so much as inflicting a dent.

I mean you'd have thought at least the canon would've snapped one time but ... nope. Say what you want about the aesthetic upgrades of MP, they're not built for high impact scenarios like the sterner stuff of G1.

So yeah. This one goes out to brawl. :buttrock You indestructible mofo.

When I was a kid everyone but me seemed to love the Aerialbots. I was ALL about the Protectobots. Superion? Gangly AF. The limbs? near indistinguishable in robot mode. Silverbolt is a hell of a transformer, I'll give you that.
The great thing about being an adult is that you can still feel all those negatives and enjoy the hell out of the toy.
