Well the difference between buying a reissue in 2002, and an original in 1985, is that we were no longer kids in 2002. LOL And, I can tell right away when a g1 optimus isn't a g1 optimus because of the smoke stacks. lol I have a reissue g1 and 2 g2's. And those smoke stacks connect to the arm with a circle thing, on the g2's. lol And those fists are extended.

So, in other words, we were playing with them in 1985, by the time we got to 2002, we were collecting them. So, the ones we bought in 2002+ were no longer being played with. Thus they do tend to look just like they got taken out of the box.

Plus, if I wanted a brand new G1 optimus prime to take out of a box, i'd probably just buy a reissue for that too. So, that could literally be true. Just took them out of the box! LOL I mean they may have come out in 2002, but I am sure there are still plenty of them that are still in boxes. Available to be purchased for fairly decent prices.

Haven't been in this thread for quite some time. Seeing all these G1 figures brings back a load of memories in the '80's while being bombarded with both the animated show and the toys in conjunction. :D

@Destructimis Prime: Seen your pics of Shackwave and I'll follow you up with the regular release that I got years ago second hand from TFsource.

Even though Shocky is worn out due to age, he's another grail acquired on my list of G1 figures.

Edit: A little more info about G1 Shocky and his roots -- Shockwave (G1)/toys - Transformers Wiki

I usually find if I no longer care about a bunch of a line, i sell it all off as i probably am done collecting, the only two lines i still have are g1 and mps, the rest are sold long ago and i don't miss them at all. I'm definitely a completionest, so i usually go with the all or nothing approach, so it might not be the best advice lol

You know, the thing about g1's, is that they are some of the very few transformers that look really good, even while all beat up.

Wow. That pic only serves to demonstrate how much better G1 Hoist is than Gen. Hoist :D

While I really do genuinely like them both, I can't disagree!
