Hi, haven't been here on the forum for a while! How are things?
Greetings from the Nine Demon Generals hanging out at my place
Pretty good, mostly us looking at Liokaiser’s amazing MISB samples and Maz’s fabulous photography.
Oh and Turbine27’s camera is going crazy
Takara Transformers E-Hobby New Year Special 04 Lambor (2002) + alternate sticker sheet applied.
All the best
Do you have the New Year Special Red Alert? I thought about buying it but decided I wasn't going to pay over 20 dollars for a different card and decals.
Also I really need to remember to finally buy myself a Dreadwind and Darkwing at some point.
I bought Dreadwind and Darkwind last year and still regularly transform and admire them, a perfect self contained set of transformers: Great looking in both modes, interesting and satisfying transformations (even if darkwing does have plane on back but somehow it doesn't bother me) and dissimilar for each, an unlock gimmick with the cool little powermasters, great construction (ok, if you have broken unlock tabs that's something that could have been avoided in the design) and of course the superb combined plane mode with the cool extra of the combining guns to pad out the look. I gave mine a good clean and part dismantle where needed to clean thoroughly and got some reprolabels, they now look superb and are sat in my list of top ten transformers period.
I'm not crying. It's just allergies. You're crying.
Just to confirm - the broken tabs don't actually affect the combination in any significant way, right? Because I can live with that as long as they still work fine.
darkwings often broken tab doesn't affect anything, it can still lock the nosecone into place using the other tabs. It's probably simple enough to find a junker that may not have the break and swap it out with an otherwise better figure, they do seem broken 7 times out of 10 though!
Also the head reveal mechanism is often described as not working, mine was the same but once I washed the figure (probably got rid of friction generation plastic powder) and gradually wiggled it the twist and reveal head mechanism now works fine.
But I thought Detirus was a "Junkion"...
Found these beauties last weekend.
See, everyone? See how Brawn is being shot in the SHOULDER?!?
One of my favorite Micromasters sets. Funny thing is, I didn't even know they existed until I was an adult.
My childhood collecting phase had ended before the later MM patrols and MM combiners. And, ironically, I switched to collecting Micro Machines, which Micromasters were trying to emulate...
I've been thinking a lot about the rumours around the IDW comics coming to an end, and what the comics have meant to me. I think one of the really great things that the Roberts/Barber era brought us was reltionships. Some romantic, some not, but all added a depth to the characterisation in these comics. So, this is a little photo series on that theme.
While I'm sure that some people thought it was probably a bit trite, but I rather enjoyed the connection John Barber made between Needlenose and Tracks (the similiar grill above thier eyes) and followed that through to make them estranged brothers on opposite sides of the war. I'd hoped it would be developed into something greater, as it seemed a novel and interesting idea, worthy of deeper exploration, but if my sense of the IDW universe being wrapped up is accurate it seems like we might not get too much more exploration. Pity.
I finally managed to pick up the micromasters combiner squads.
