First step is to check the copyright, then the wing, then the antennae and canopy.

If none of those obviously point to Matsushiro/Macross-style features (curved back-of-canopy stripe, notched antennae, Matsu-copyright), then you've most likely for a standard Bandai manufactured Jetfire.

Other differences include the flat plate between the two vertical tailfins being brick-pattern on bandai ones but totally smooth on Matsushiros.

    All the best

Are the boxes all the same? Or are they all different too.

Ehhhh I get shaky here, but proper Matsushiros tend to be from late 1984 and therefore pre-rub, meaning they have the "TM" above the "TRANS FORMERS" text on the main box flap as opposed to the "R".

As a general rule, 1984 TF box copyrights are "Hasbro Industries Inc", 1985 boxes are "Hasbro Bradley" and 1986 are "Hasbro Inc"...not sure that applies to characters who actually came out before 1986 though for the latter copyright.

So my box is a 84 hasboro industries inc TM Valkrie and my figure is a smooth antennae bandai 1985. I had two mib jetfires originally and kept the best figure and the best box of the two.

The boxed pics of Jetfire and Soundwave have me jealous lol. They are two of the few I do want to have boxed. A friend of mine says he has a Jetfire box for me though, so whenever he finds it, I'll be in business lol.

Took a ton of new pics of these guys for the blog post today, the old pics just weren't cutting it, and I wanted some pics of just the Micromasters

I had a horrible experience on these boards once with trading. I was supposed to be trading a MIB 84 pre rub thundercracker(sticker unapplied), a couple g2 reissues (bluestreak and prowl) for a MIB jet fire. The guy took all my stuff. I never got the jetfire.

Turns out he promised twenty some odd people on here the same thing. Took all if our stuff.

    I still need a jetfire.. :(

Well, I did something many would consider sacrilegious and slapped my Matsu Jetfire into a "pre-rub" box... main reason is because I want to display the fully stickered Jetfire I got from 2punish&enslave rather than the unused and un-stickered Matsu Jetfire.

More photos in my Blog post here.

"TM" box (I have 2 "TM" boxes and 1 "R" in a circle box; the "R" one almost certainly being for the Bandai JFs)

Also throwing another thing into the mix, I realised that my Matsu striped canopy is made of blue-based plastic and has a bluish tint while all the other JFs (no stripe canopy) have canopies that are made of brown-based plastic and has a brownish tint.

    Shockwave hose.....

Does anyone know of a rubber cover or a simple solution on how to fix hose cracking?

I need to repair mine. I have an extra hose that is nice, as mine is cracking. As far as I know, I'd have to actually disconnect the wire from the circuit board, thread the wire through the new hose, resolder the wires, and then totally reassemble.

The simpler solution would to simply buy another Shockwave.

Those are my only options that I know of. If any of you have any advice, tutorials [THAT I CAN RESOURCE HERE!], or any other helps, please post!

Damn, dude.. sorry you had to experience this bad episode from a douchey and dishonest seller! Totally feel for ya! I say ask for a full refund and file an Ebay complaint to ensure he never sells again! You've certainly got a solid case against this dishonest seller, Maz.

Well, read a little further on, he was happy to agree to a full refund and I suspect he may even cover my shipping of the item back to him. I'll know by the end of the day. Other than omitting the flaws originally I cannot ask for more in terms of customer service. I have provided him with hi-res pictures also in the hope that the next buyer will know 100% what they are getting.

    All the best

I would ALWAYS combine them according to the Marvel Character sheets (ie: Transformers Universe comic books). I believe the cartoon is consistent with design sheets too.

Like Undertaker Prime, I will disregard the instructions or box art.

I think if you first open the arm with the laser cannon there is no need to disconnect the wire from the circuit board - just loosen the screws, remove the wire and then gently slide the rubber hose off the wires.

I only have the Shackwave version, though, and it's been a while since I replaced the wiring with a metal chain to produce Blingwave.

I do the same. Although based on all the research and info presented on the forums, it seems the animators took so many liberties that perhpas the box art or comics are more accurate??

    Blingwave is awesome!! LOL

Glad to hear that your getting a full refund Maz!!

Guys I put up a rather big grail, a MIB Black Zarak for sale in the Junkion Exchange! I'd rather sell to one of you, than hit eBay, but if I get no takers, it has to go so check it out ASAP!
