Tell me again we don't need a Voyager Shockwave!
I fucking love Shockwave. Better than Megatron. Better than Scorponok. Better than Galvatron. Better even than the TF:UK Soundwave. Best Decepticon leader ever man! He was the 'con in charge when I started reading the comics back in '85. He kicked the shit out of the Dinobots. He was scary as fuck in Robot Buster, Brilliant in Distant Thunder, and his fight with Death's Head in the Legacy of Unicron will stay with me forever. Possibly some of my favourite ever Geoff Senior art in that issue. Beautifully choreographed fight scene.
So come on man, gimme a Voyager Shockwave already!

So these three dudebots showed up at my office yesterday...
A good deal for all three, but these guys need some serious TLC.
-Fizzle's waist is so jacked up, I had to really wrench him apart -- and I can't squeeze him back together. Plus, something is seriously wrong with his spark wheel -- gonna need to disassemble him to get a good look.
-Sizzle is physically okay aside from his missing engine, but his hood snapped off the first time I transformed him.
-Backstreet is in good shape but desperately needs new labels and an all-around cleaning, plus his chrome is in a really poor state.
-All three also have a lot of screw/wheel rust.

Fortunately, as a staunch supporter of the "No-Autobot-Left-Behind-And-Also-Decepticons-Too-I-Guess Act" (NALBAADTIGA), I'm gonna give these guys a good teardown 'n scrubdown and see if I can't get them back up to fightin' weight. To be continued.

    XD

On an unrelated note, I have a G1 Cloudburst, which is making me a bit more excited for POTP, and I'm probably gonna get Micronus.

Pass! I need a Generations update.

This is a handsome little gang. I don't exaggerate in the slightest by saying it's one of the Universe's great injustices that we didn't get Blaster and his cassettes over here.

Yeah, I rather hoped it was implied by the context (2 G1 figures, 2 CHUG).

Middle of the Atlantic? Or possibly some other ocean?
I dunno. MP Shockwave has never done it for me. I have Quakewave and, while I know that many people think that MP Shockwave stomps all over him, he feels more like 'my' Shockwave. The cost of being a comics kid rather than a cartoon one, I guess?

    *drooool*

So did your refurbishment involve a whitening treatment?
My childhood Jetfire is well loved, worn and yellowed beyond hope (which is ok with me since it'll never be for sale anyway) but my display copy is only slightly yellow and I'm curious about any way to wind back the clock!

No whitening treatments were done, just a lot of part swapping between junkers.

Guys I need some more help:

    1) G1 Prime. I picked up a G1 Prime the other day that was complete, and seems to be a variant of a variant. I thought it was one of the fat tire #3 versions, but it actually has #1 and 2 marked on its legs respectively. Fists, trailer door, Roller all are unnumbered. I'm trying to find a replacement leg for it, but am having no luck. This came with the Circle T stamp in the trailer hitch. Anyone know what this thing is?

    2) G1 Soundwave - i've got one that has the Takara stamp with dates, but what's mystifying me are its stomach buttons - they are completely unchromed, the same grey as the arms. Taking it apart, the only bit of chrome that exists is in the back of the piece for some reason. This is not a knock-off as far as I know. I thought at first that the chrome may have worn off, but it doesn't appear to be the case. Were there ever any G1 Soundwaves made with unchromed buttons? Could it be a Mexican version?

Yer class of '84 Soundwave and crew.

He really is one of the best, isn't he? Such a design classic. We didn't get Megs until '85 over here and, while I'd barely started getting the toys, I do remember Soundwave being so much more prominent that Megatron on a lot of the advertising (like the cover of the first issue of the UK comic). of the '84 crew I think maybe only Prime is as satisfyingly articulated and proportioned.

Despite this being a bit badly focused I really like how the his pose came out in this. He's pretty loose in the limbs so there's an element of necessity in the pose, but it does ooze some of that early UK comic style. You know, the days when the only reference model the artists had was the toys themselves?

So I got a question for the G1 community: how white are the technobots supposed to be? Mine are very cream-colored, but I’ve seen a lot of pictures of ones that are a lot whiter. Also, Takara’s Unite Warriors Computron set has all the figures in white, not cream. How are they supposed to be?
