Okay, let's talk about the weather...So I finally materialized one of my long-time little dreams to actually see the Rainmakers as toys, lined up next to each other, just like in the G1 cartoon. I guess you could say they've been 25-years in the making, sorry it took me so long! All 3 are all based on the Cybertron Starscream Supreme-class figure and have been heavily modified and roughly 50% scratch-built. I think my favorites are Acidstorm and Icestorm(?), with Acidstorm's ability to glow under blacklight, and Icestorm's color theme and detailing...Sunstorm might not have been the yellow guy, and the blue guy was never official, but what the heck....here they are, Sunstorm, Acidstorm & Icestorm, hope you enjoy! (Starscream's next ) Anyone interested in this set, they're now on ebay.
Just so you know, Sunstorm isn't the yellow seeker on the far right in that screen cap. Sunstorm made his first appearance trying to take down Wheeljack and Bumblebee on Cybertron in the very first episode. That aside, these are VERY awesome. Thanks for fulfilling my request
Jeez, know-it-all. LOL I'm just kidding, you're absolutely right, that was quick to point out! Though it is common knowledge............. Anyway, yo KINGBOTZ! These looks sooooo awesome, if my memory serves correctly, was it not you who made one as an entry at Botcon recently? I didn't go, but I picked up pieces of the news. Man, I was drooling at this then, I'm still ogling it now. These bad boys are just too huge and too awesome!!! Love the snow deco on Icestorm, blacklight on Acidstorm? Show us! I saw them on eBay, good luck! I'm seriously considering this very much, even though I'm in a financial rut. I have no idea who I would go for....maybe all three.....why must you do this to me now?! lol all in all, great job man, can't wait to see Starscream!!
LOL sorry, I don't know how I missed the blacklight pics. Got it! SLAGGIN' SCHWEEEEEET!! How did you do it, because I might give that a shot for Classics Acid Storm, hope you don't mind playing with that idea! Not a fan of the base, they look awkward on it. (Well, I had to nitpick something to hate!!)
It was my pleasure, man....but a lot of hard work! As for Sunstorm, I figured with all the color-inconsistencies the G1 cartoon had, there was the chance I'd get away with it this one time
All I did for the paint apps was, I started with a black base coat, then LIGHTLY misted Rustoleum flourescent green over it. It's a pain-in-the-ass getting the paint evenly distrubuted without going too thick, and you don't want it too bright, either. The idea is to still look dark but be thick enough on there to glow significantly under blacklight. I even sprayed a little glow-in-the-dark acrylic on him so he glows in the dark in robot mode with no light at all... Yeah, not everybody's a fan of the bases, but I wanted something decent looking to display the jet mode in. I was going for the old-school Decepticon box-art look when I made them. They're really purple with a pink mist on top.
It's a pretty easy fannon leap, IMO, to make the yellow Rainmaker and Sunstorm the same character, especially since the green one is officially Acid Storm - all three can have 'Storm' names then lol Those look great, too - I've always wanted a more show-accurate tetrajet, rather than the War Within inspired versions - the MTMTE tetrajet design looked great and so do these!
I was floored when I first saw your Sunstorm.. but DAMN Acidstorm and Icestorm are so much better. I love that glow-in-the-dark paint. Amazing work man! I hope to see more from you.
these are awesome, I've always wanted to see these types of seekers, not warwithin or any of that the cybertronian cartoon seekers. do you think this would be possible with the voyager size starscream or would it be to cluttered up? they look so awesome with the rest of the classics line. great job!
