Is there anyone on this thread who collects G.I. Joe for reasons unrelated to growing up with it in the 80s? I find myself increasingly drawn to collecting Joe figures for two reasons. One, its long-time connection to Transformers. I never got into Joe in the 80s, but know of the main characters and mythos due to its crossovers with TF. Now IDW has TFs and Joes explicitly sharing the same universe. It feels like I'm already kinda sorta a Joe fan. Second, and more importantly, I am a huge fan of the 1/18 scale and Hasbro's Star Wars line in particular. But with that line gone mostly 5POA, the bloom is off the rose for me. At least with Joe you get a line that has consistent articulation. I can't get into the Black Series 6" figures and am just getting burnt out on SW in general. I collected Joes briefly a few years back (ROC, POC, 30th Anniversary, Retaliation), when I was on a kick with 1/18 scale stuff, including Marvel Universe. Might start picking up some again. Since I have no emotional, childhood connection to it, I can just collect for the fun of it and cool-looking figures. And I know, Joe is almost nearly dead at this point. But I have over 30 years of figures to pick from.
If only they would do a 6" scale line sculpted by The Four Horseman like Masters of the Universe Classics. I know MotUC is 7" btw.
Eh, I remember it growing up but it was a very distant 6th or 7th place and never had any of the toys. When 25th was out I picked up a few that I remembered being cool from the show, Flint and Shipwreck specifically. If they ever did a ML-type line, I'd pick up a dozen tops.
We all know about the Transformers Devastation game but has anone played Toy Soldiers: War Chest Hall of Fame Edition?
I have it and it's kinda fun for the nostalgia at first but then it's gets kinda tough and frustrating from the controls.
I build my own 6" G.I.Joe figures. So far I've completed Cobra Commander, Baroness, Destro. Half done Serpentor and just started working on Snake Eyes.
Is the SDCC Roadblock worth $40, or is it, a "meh, another Rockblock repaint."? I've absolutely grown to hate that body. I'm not very fond of 25th RB, either.
great work! this needs to happen officially. I think they should do a 6" collector direct solution like masters of the universe classics. except avoiding their horrible distribution system. I would even love to see sculpts from the four horsemen. without new media, I think a change in scale is the only thing that can reinvigorate the brand.
Other than getting the figures back down to a reasonable price and a return to vintage package , I agree. But really don't want to start another 6 inch line myself. Between black series and the massive output of ML, I don't think my wallet could take the hit lol.
The SDCC Roadblock is completely new. His design is from the short-lived GI Joe Renegades TV series and one of the biggest holes in that line. The head of Hasbro's GI Joe department pushed him into the SDCC set in an effort to get fans one more wanted figure before he left.
He'd be worth $40 if you're a completionist for the Renegades line or just a completionist in general. I sold mine for like $30 shipped on Hisstank.com. I would have kept him if he came with a non-mutton chop head.
Any help here? Is Roadblock v2 the Club subscription figure next year? Is the Dreadnock vehicle mentioned here going to be the Stinger mold?
