As far as I can tell, the original Force FX megathread (merged from the 8 jillion threads that suddenly sprang up way back) is way off the radar, so here's a new one.

...started 'cause I just got my first one. :rock  Found the double-blade Darth Maul FX Sabre at a local drugstore marked down to $120 CDN. For two working FX pieces, that seems like a hell of a good deal.

Pictures coming later, but I highly highly recommend grabbing at least a single-blade Maul sabre if you see one. Apparently it has the most durable FX blade that Master Replica's done to date, so it's quite safe to swing around and thwack stuff with. :D

I'll warn you now though, the combined doublesabre is like 7 or 8 feet long and beats the crap out of your walls an ceilings. You turn to pick something up and it tries to cleave your desk in half. It's so damned awesome.

Really hard to explain how incredible these are without showing you in person, so if you get a chance to demo a Force FX sabre, DO IT. I'm hardly even a Star Wars fan and I love these things. XD

That said...anyone have recommendations on the rest of the series? Darth Maul's is a must-buy in my opinion, if not simply for the durability.

Whoa! CDN$120 for the D.Maul light saber has got to be a steal! I'm interested in these but I believe once the "fuse" is used up, its not replaceable...am I correct on this?

Have Vaders, Anakins, Lukes and Windu's so far. Really want that Maul saber though, and that Yoda one.

Put one against a Vader poster for coolness

I'd grab a Maul saber for 120 American, let alone Canadian. I want one, but I just can't justify spending 200 on it.

I have Vader's Ep V one. Need to get Maul's for sure; and any ol' blue one, not too particular about whose it is though.

I have Anakin's and Mace Windu's. I love both of them. Mace's is nice because if you keep fingerprints off of it it's hard to tell where the activation switch is unless you already know where it is.

Got them all so far - Vader, Anakin, Luke, Obiwan, Windu, and Maul. If there's a Yoda one, this is the first I've heard of it.

I'd definitely like to see a Yoda, as well as a Palpatine.

    edit: spellin'

    Wheee!

I have Mace's, Vaders, and Anakins, there very cool but honestly I wish I only spent the cash to buy one of them as there all pretty much the same in the end.

That's a steal on picking up Mauls for that price though. I've played with it at a local comic shop here in Toronto and it is very awesome. Kinda wished I waited and bought this and Mace's as there the two that would be keepers.

    Got Luke, Vader and Maul.

    All = Awesome

Lukes: I'm carefull because it seems the blade fells soft

Vaders: seems more durable than Lukes, but I'm still carefull with it.

Darth Maul: The strongest blades, indeed! And it is frikkin' huge! note: Do not use this model near anything! especially not if you have ANYTHING in the room (shelves of toys for example) it's very hard to use indoors, period.
But you can use it as two single blades, only thing is you can't just disconnect them withoust using separate end caps for both when using single bladed and another connector you use two use double-sided. It's a pain, but I understand why. If both ends weren't directly screwed to each other, it would be far less stable, than a "quick connect"

They look great on display and are awesome conversation pieces.

    here's pics:

Threadbump, with pics and crappy video!

Here's what you get in the box. It's so...exciting!...

Look! One lit up! I swear, you can sorta see it. Alright, time for better lighting.

Vwwwaaaam. Who needs reading lights. Granted it'll cack up my eyes, but dammit, I'm happy about the brightness on 'em. Note that the batteries could probably be better, but this is a general idea (aside: anyone remember that Energizer commercial?).

    Maul Sabre, Combine!

Note the two little endcap things that don't actually combine themselves. They got some neato detailing.

    [IMG][IMG]

My apologies for not actually appearing, I haven't had the time to grab a buddy for assistance and take glamour shots of self.

And finally, here's a video of the thing working from my POV.

All for you, Randomferret, all for youuu.

No, no, no. You don't need to get a friend to take "glamour" shots. What you do is get liquored up real good, steal your wife's tripod, set the camera for ten second delay, put on the old bath robe and . . .

I really, really, REALLY need to get that Maul saber two pack while Big Bad still has it in stock. That thing looks so sweet. Plus, I'll be able to kick some serious ass the next time the family gets together for saber duels.

From what I hear, it's a good idea to display them vertically, if you can find the stands that do so. The blades have a tendency to droop over time. The only other way to keep this from happening is to actually use them by swinging them around and such. Then again, this is just what I've heard, and I keep mine in the box when I'm not messing with it.

    I don't have a tripod either. That's why I got married.

(Don't tell her though. She thinks I love her for her looks.)
