I don't mind the "scavenger hunt" just as long its a decent story or plot behind the episode.

Hopefully, the Decepticons in season 2 will get a few relics not just the Autobots.

The Fallen is a character that originated from War Within comics. I can't tell you too much about that guy because I haven't read the comics but I really want to because I freaking love his design. What I can tell you is that his original name was Megatronus Prime and he was one of the original 13 Transformers who betrayed the others and became the first Decepticon. He's basically a walking furnace. His design has several slits with fire shooting out like an actual furnace would have and he transforms into a Cybertronian tank.

The Fallen in the movie I can tell you a lot more about. He was one of the original 7 Primes. They had "seekers" who would look for uninhabited worlds they could destroy using the solar harvester to create Energon. The solar harvester is powered by the Matrix of Leadership and the other 6 Primes basically sacrificed themselves to hide it from the Fallen because he hated humans and wanted to kill them. He didn't give a crap that the Earth was inhabited, he was still going to use the solar harvester to make more Energon. If you're confused about how that works basically the machine converts the sun's energy into Energon and when the sun which is a star collapses it creates a black hole that would suck every planet in our solar system into it. Anyway the Fallen was the first Decepticon, and he lead the Decepticons in the second film while Megatron did his bidding while plotting against him behind his back. The Fallen was killed by Optimus Prime, by removal of his face with his own weapon and I was pissed off because he wasn't on fire. The one character Micheal Bay could get away with having lots of explosions and he screws that up too.

In Prime, the concept of there being 13 original Primes was introduced at the end of the first season and one of them will most likely be The Fallen though no other information about him currently exists.

It's been said that all versions of the Fallen are the same character but considering different interpretations can't agree on how many original Transformers there are, weather or not they're all Primes, and it never even been said in fiction I don't buy into it.

Onto your second question. A McGuffin is a made up term which basically means a fix all plot device that exists as a lazy way to tell a story. Like the Matrix being used to defeat Unicron instead of actually fighting Unicron we just employ the plot device. Or Sari's key threw the first 2 seasons of Transformers Animated.

Personally I only have a problem with them when the entire plot revolves around them. If it's there but not that important to what's going on right now then I don't mind it. It all depends on how involved it is to the story and how often they use it as to how bad I think it actually is. I hated the first season of Prime because every episode was either a plot device heavy episode or a introduce new character just to kill him in 5 minutes episode. I like season 2 because when they have had a plot device it hasn't been the main focus and the only death has been a character who we've actually gotten to know for a while so it made a real impact on the series.

Dude, there *is* a wiki, you know.

Are you just...new to the internet period? Admittedly, I was introduced to the concept of Macguffins *really* early on, back in 1998 on Sam & Max's 'Glazed MacGuffin Day', but still, this isn't the '90s any more, Google is your friend...as long as you keep safe search on.

Looking at what I've read so far, I guess the next 4 episodes are happening at the same time (plotwise). One of the biggest indications of this are the Episode titles, which are...

    Tunnel Vision
    Triangulation
    Triage
    Toxicity

    By process of Elimination.

Added Raf. I hope that this marks the end of the drought of life.

But we'll see Wheeljack's vehicle mode alongside Ratchet's, hopefully.

The first time I heard the term McGuffin I had the same reaction. And WHAT, you turn safe search on, but then how do you find porn?

internet is for porn(Transformer) - YouTube

TFA - The Internet Is For Porn - YouTube

Sorry Miko, But Internet is For PORN - Transformers Prime :D  - YouTube

No actual porn was used in the making of these parodies, just music from Avenue Q.

I hope that they're gearing up for something big. I know that they can really make things happen with multiple-episode arcs, and this looks like the biggest, most epic one yet.

    WRONG.

That's not a MacGuffin; you're thinking of Deus Ex Machina. No wonder people hate MacGuffins so much if that's what they think they are. :rolleyes2  Holy crap.

And lol yeah, let's call Alfred Hitchcock, one of the greatest storytellers who ever lived, lazy. Roll eyes again.

Coincidentally also the name of a Prime episode. And one of my favorite ancient sayings three years running.

Also the name of a G1 episode when translated: Ghost in the Machine.

Plot Device, MacGuffin, and Deus Ex Machina are all the same thing. People call them MacGuffins or simply plot devices because Deus Ex Machina is kind of a mouth full and a pain to spell. That's like saying that Blackarachnia is not a black widow she's a Latrodectus. It's the same thing. Latrodectus is the scientific name for a Black Widow Spider.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a McGuffin an item introduced to a plot in order to move the story forward, or to give reason for the characters actions as opposed to the fix-all Deus ex machina?

    You nailed it.

Not all stories have a McGuffin, but some have poorly done ones, and some have well done ones.

This is absolutely false. I think you need to brush up on why we have different words for different things.

    (Hint: because they're different.)

Your example's ridiculous, too. It's like saying "Skyscrapers are to houses like computers are to steam engines- they're different versions of the same thing." No. A skyscraper is a big house, but a computer is not a steam engine, nor are any of the things you mentioned.

Maybe you can classify them as writing devices, and they might fall under "plot device", but a Deus ex Machina and a McGuffin are not one and the same.

The only episode that bothers me out the four is Triangulation which states that Optimus travels to Antartica in search relics but is caught between shifting alliances. Who are the the shifting alliances? Because it sounds like both factions will have traitors I cant see anyone on the autobots or decpticons switching sides socould the relic or relics in Tunnel Vision be a new autobot and new decpticon that later switch team in Triangulation.

Sounds like you need to brush up on basic English. Just because there is more than one word or term being used doesn't mean they are automatically different things.

Synonym | Learn everything there is to know about Synonym at Reference.com

Also while we're at it, different things can all be called the same word as well. "The *** man smoking a *** tied together a *** and cut the *** end from the rope." This doesn't make a lot of sense unless you realize that "***" doesn't always mean homosexual. What I actually said was "The exhausted man smoking a cigarette tied together a bundle of sticks and cut the frayed end from the rope." In all the times I just said "***" not one of them was referring to homosexuals.
