BBC News - GM to end Hummer after Chinese sale collapses
Will this effect TF3?
Maybe, But don't they still have like a couple Hummer H2's from TF2?
Ok, I get kinda tired of the "ZOMG the car line is ending, what will happen to (insert autobot name here)/ will this effect the movie". So, I will just say this, stop freaking out/worrying...
Judging that they have 1 or more of the same vehicle for the movies, I think we will be safe. Like Ironhide, they probably have Ratchet safely locked in a garage waiting for the next movie.
Also, you mispelled "Effect"
ok, i will fix that
With the rate this is going, Ratchet and Ironhide will probably not even be in the next film.
Neither will Sideswipe or Chromia - don't start the bs about "Durr hurr she's dead". Hell, we all know Jolt won't appear.
It's going to be a Bay Wants, Bay Gets situation again - the first film was about Frenzy, the second was about the Twins and Bumblebee's Camaro mode, the third will be about whoever Bay wants.
Uh, no. Just because they wont be making anymore of the car doesnt mean they'd pull out a character in a movie.
The only way this would affect TF3 is if a new character was going to be a Hummer. But there are still PLENTY to buy right now.
So this won't affect TF3 at all.
Exactly what they said.
Anyone else hope this might mean we'll see new bodies for some characters? Hell, it'd be worth it just to stop further repaints of the Voyager Ratchet and Ironhide molds.
Plenty of Hummers out there so it's not like they can't buy a used one if they really feel like they need something that big for a character. Sure GM isn't going to be pushing the film makers to put Hummers in the film, but I'm sure there is nothing to stop the film makers from putting Hummers in if they want them.
Heck Bay is a buddy of the Pentagon so he could always borrow a military Hummer for one of the characters and claim it's because the Autobot really likes his human buddies in the military so he chose it for an alt mode.
If new bodies are to be had, it won't be due to the cancellation of the Hummer brand.
the SR-71 Blackbird ended production decades ago, so Jetfire should have been something else if we are talking about production here..
It's not like Ratchet's going to be in the movie much anyway. Mostly likely, Bay will just take the latest GM concept car and turn it into a mentally handicapped robot voiced by Carlos Mencia who will become the next Prime. "Autobots, dee dee dee and roll out!"
Ratchet's just going to be in the background still trying to fix BB's voice...
First Ironhide, now Ratchet? The economy might kill off the Autobots before the Decepticons even get the chance!
But in all seriousness, I doubt this will change much. They have probably been keeping all of the character vehicles pristeen in preparation for the next filming. Ratchet will be fine
They can always build a new one. Look at the extras on the ROTF DVD, there was a shop making exteriors for Sideswipe and the Twins.
Because people seeing the film were going to run out and buy a supersonic recon plane.
Even if the vehicle doesn't exist, Bay will just have his people make the car like they did with the Bumblebee vehicle prop.
The art crew hand made that prop vehicle using GM's autocad files because the vehicle wasn't in production, and only one existed at the time.
So it really doesn't matter if it's in production or not.
and a concept corvette which isn't even going to see production. Vehicles being in production or even existing, has nothing to do with them being in a movie.
A concept Corvette raises Corvettes profile, thus helps them sell cars. I would like to think the military do not purchase jets on the same criteria.
Well, I remember reading that there are private owned Flankers (russian planes, think Cybertron Thundercracker) in the US.
