I've noticed this over the last few years in many videogames. Now in some cases, the occasional tutorial is okay, but it's definitely not necessary. I posted this in the Old School Gamers social group and thought it would be relevant here to all gamers who actually know what a Game Genie is (this video has nothing to do with Game Genie, just wanted to reference something from the days of yore). Anyway, this video makes so many good points and entertains aswell. Enjoy!

EDIT: Some explicit language ensues, so if you have to ask your mom to use the internet, or are easily offended, might wanna be cautious. (Nothing offensive really, just a lot of F bombs, but well used)

Well I wouldn't say it's the best ever, (that's really up to personal opinion/taster/yaddah yaddah) but it is definitely up there. I think my favorite game will always be Chrono Trigger. Best RPG hands down. But MMX is at least in my top 15-20 games, and Capcom is my fave game company. Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Onimusha, Devil May Cry...need I say more?

I've always thought Megaman X was insanely amazing. I remember getting Zero's sword in X3 and just marking the fuck out, even as a young kid.

I love that video, and thanks for posting.

I don't think MMX is the best game ever, but I can safely say I think it's the best Mega Man. Totally wowed me, but it took them way to long to finally get a SNES Mega Man.

As soon as I saw the thread title, I thought about posting Egoraptor's newest Sequelitis video. Lo and behold it's in the opening post. Nice.

While I think there are certain things in games that have improved over time, Egoraptor did bring up a lot of really good points. I really miss when games' levels were designed to teach you how to play while you played them.
I've been replaying Mega Man X thanks to that video. I totally never knew that the Hadouken could one-shot Vile or that you could use Boomer Kuwanger's weapon to cut off Flame Mammoth's trunk (considering I always fought Flame Mammoth before Boomer Kuwanger, that's not too surprising).

Anyway, if I were ever to compile a list of what are, in my opinion, the best games ever made, Mega Man X is guaranteed a spot near the top. It would probably heavily favour SNES games in general really.

I'm a big multiplayer gamer and even in MP you see this dumbing down of skill. 9.3 million people bought Modern Warfare 3...which is undoubtedly the prime example of what a shit MP FPS is. It's easy mode. It takes ZERO skill to be good, and the pros who you see on Youtube prove that. Run around like an idiot and build your twitch reaction, drop shot and you're ready to get 4:1 KDs without breaking a sweat.

Back in the day I played games like Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat and Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. These were games that require thought...how to attack a certain area, how to deal with multiple attackers, how to flank and maneuver, knowing when to attack and defend. It took thought to play these games...not the mindless, headless chicken gameplay that is Modern Warfare.

It just irks me that when I sit in a high traffic area or in a strategic spot, MW players call me a camper like it's a bad thing. In MY day, doing stuff like that, and if you were good at it, was called holding down a position or pinning down the enemy. IF you could keep an enemy close to the spawn in Day of Defeat, you had a higher chance of winning. Lying in wait for an ambush in Ghost Recon was often a great way to succeed...and of course, you had to make sure your ambush wasn't so predictable that you'd face a wall of heavy fire!

People don't know what it means to be good anymore. I can see that just when I hop into any game of Battlefield Bad Company 2. I can tell the MW noobs from the people who know how to actually play FPS. It's sick and disgusting.

Another fun fact, Boomer Kuwanger's weapon can also cut off Launch Octopus' arms.

I totally agree with that video as well... Mega Man X is an awesome game. I have the Mega Man X Collection for Gamecube... I love that disk. 6 X titles all in one disk is awesome. And I'd also have to agree games these days seem to rely on tutorials way too much. Generally I like to figure out the games controls and stuff for myself. I don't need or want some pop-up thing telling me how to play the game.
